PG Desi "DJ" Carton (transfer to Marquette)

Re: This is a total guessing game at this point, but DJ Carton is definitely going to push for a waiver that would allow for him to play immediately for Marquette in the fall. However, as we have seen in recent years, there is no clear distinction between who receives such a waiver and who doesn’t. Even further, thanks to the recent hike in transfer numbers and various other hurdles that have arisen due to the coronavirus, there is a chance that Carton’s waiver request won’t be answered until sometime during the college season.

Just sayin': This is another reason that the NCAA sucks. There should be definitive "black and white" rules as to what qualifies for a wavier and there should be a timely decision on the NCAA's part on granting or rejecting it.

Someone asked him on his Instagram story why he transferred from Ohio State and his response was:

"They ain't have room for me. They loss"

So yea. Any illusion that this transfer was to be closer to home is gone. I'm not sure how he came to the conclusion that we didn't have room for a guy that played starter minutes but good luck at Marquette I guess

Maybe he was told that in the context of discussing the 2019-2020 starting five. But otherwise I don't buy it.

Something kind of odd going on with the basketball program since Matta had that entire class transfer out
No, this is not about OSU, it is about what college basketball has become. Nearly a thousand college hoops players transfer every single year. If you think you are talented and don't start as a freshman, you transfer. These kids are just amateur athletes looking to be in a position where they get the most PT and best chance at making it to the league. Egos are big, some can't accept coming off the bench.

No, this one is not about college basketball or Ohio State. I think it has about a mixed up teenager who has used the mental health issue to transfer.

I do agree with you and think that's true to a point but I would be surprised if they haven't been above average in terms of transfers. Transfers or not it also seems like too many players are not reaching their full potential here. Whatever the cause in the last 5 years they've finished 7th, 10th, 2th, 8th & 5th in the B1G so it's not like they have been tremendously successful in a new era of the game.

What am I missing? Don't see anything from him in the article?
His latest comment (responding to someone on social media) saying he left OSU because they didn't have room for him.

He only started 3 games, but he was averaging 24mpg on the year. His last 6 games were 27mpg, 11.8pts and 3.5ast..on 9.5 shot attempts. I've been quiet and congratulatory on everything to date, but there's no way there wasn't room at the inn for him.

I'm not sure how that even gets perceived.
