PG C.J. Walker (Official Thread)

cj, luther, and duane have really picked up their games since carton's departure. a lot more active. more rebounds and more penetration. certainly fewer turnovers. in the 8 games without carton, only once have we committed more than 13 turnovers (purdue, which osu controlled the whole way), with 5 games totaling 10 or fewer turnovers.

as far as the recent turnover turnaround goes, i certainly don't want to lay it all at carton's feet, but that was his greatest drawback. think there are three main reasons why turnovers have decreased:

1. carton's departure has forced our three guards to put on their big boy pants. a shortened roster has narrowed their focus and increased their attention to detail.

2. the end of the regular season has forced our guards to put on their big boy pants. because of the january slump, they understood that things had to change if the team was going to make the tournament.

3. while the offense often needed carton's spark, the down side to his creativity and speed was carelessness, which is somewhat expected for a freshman. in conference play, no one has been close to dj's turnover percentage. the top two are carton at 26% and kaleb at 17%. walker, washington, and muhammad are each below 15%.
