PF Jared Sullinger (2x 1st Team ALL B1G & All American, Anyang KGC, S.Korea)

It is nearly criminal what they are doing to Sullinger down in the paint. I am not just talking about the fouling when he gets the ball. They are practically wrestling him when he doesn't have the ball. scUM players undercut him several times when he was going up for rebounds too. I would hate to see Sully injured....especially on a dirty play.
I was complaining about the undercutting too. Its blatent. Sullys on the floor every other trip down the court. :pissed:

http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebask.../jared-sullinger-drains-blind-half-court-shot

So, let's see. Awesome at basketball? Check. Player of the year candiate? Check. Likely to be a top five NBA draft pick (and therefore very wealthy) in the near future? Check. The product of a locally renowned hoops family with thoroughly awesome nicknames? Check. Grounded, quirky, friendly, interesting, and generally an all-around nice guy? Check.

Able to make behind-the-head half court shots on a whim? With cameras present? Check and check.

It's official: Jared Sullinger is cooler than you. Don't get me wrong, your collection of early 90's baseball cards is sweet and everything, and you have excellent taste in music (you're into the Smith Westerns, right?) but, well, yeah. Sorry. It's true.

Thread title change? According to Coach Boals, Jared was given the nickname "Timex" by the staff following the Michigan game, since he 'takes a licking and keeps on ticking.'

How in the hell did Deshaun Thomas get 3.5%?

I was figuring that they accidentally counted a couple of badly missed shots as passes.

Thomas has actually been credited with 12 assists in 359 minutes...a whopping 1 assist per 29.9 minutes of playing time. (Yes, I know the chart isn't strictly tied to assists--but assists are easier to look up.)

This compares to:

Aaron Craft: 1 assist per 6.1 minutes
David Lighty: 1 assist per 9.1 minutes
William Buford: 1 assist per 9.4 minutes
Jon Diebler: 1 assist per 13.6 minutes
Jared Sullinger: 1 assist per 21.6 minutes
Dallas Lauderdale: 1 assist per 103 minutes.

So, except for a more-or-less defensive specialist center...DT isn't exactly the king of ball movement. He even has fewer assists per minute than Jared Sullinger...who is most often the primary scoring option.

That all having been said...I'm struggling to remember even 1 of DT's 12 assists so far this season. :)

Tweeted by SI's Luke Winn during the Minnesota game:

Dear ESPN: Thx for stealing "Who's Feeding Jared" w/o attribution! (mine: http://bit.ly/hIzcFd / theirs: http://twitpic.com/3x6h2r)

It only took 4+ hours of film study of 170+ post feeds in 22 Ohio State games to tabulate ... but whatever.

I'm honored that the PRs are getting that much spread. Film study not possible w/o ESPN footage. But ... that was a weak swipe

Ever since he's been here Diebler has been the best post feeder on the team. And I think some of it makes sense- Diebler is never going to create his own offense like Turner, Buford, Lighty, or Craft can. He gets a pass and either shoots or passes. The game announcer also made a good point that we consistently put Diebler on the same side as Sully so that teams can't double down off Diebler or he will light you up from three.

That being said, he is also the person on our team who makes the most consistent effort to feed the bigs. Its been true with KK, BJ, and Jared. Diebler gets the ball, looks to shoot and if its not there, looks to make an entry pass. I think its a reflection of his high basketball IQ.

i think the sentence in bold is at least 75% the reason for diebler being sully's prime feeder. in turn, sully needs to do a better job feeding diebler. at least three times today did i see sully with the ball and a clear passing lane to an open diebler. on average, that is worth 4.5 points, which is about a point more than the team averages in three possessions.

i would really like to see sully quickly return the ball to a wing after an interior pass. this will limit future double- or triple-downs... or at least limit the speed at which teams drop down on sully. teams are finding better ways to play defense against our beast inside. we're seeing more and more of his passes being deflected. he can counteract the opponents' overplaying with immediate but simple kick-outs.
