PF EJ Liddell (All B1G, All-American, Chicago Bulls)

I don't know if he's the greatest need in terms of what he's adding to the roster, but there's very little not to like about this kid in terms of the type of person he is and how he brings it on the court. In many ways I think he's kind of the ideal college PF (in part because his 6'6ish height should ensure he stays in college for 3-4 years). If his outside shot continues to develop (and as of late it's looking pretty solid) I think he's a good bet for an eventual all-conference player, whatever conference he ends up in. I continue to mentally compare him to a Jae'Sean Tate with a couple more inches to work with in terms of height and length and a better-looking stroke from 3-pt land.

I really hope his official visit goes as well as DJ Carton's did. :-)

Watching EJ today a bit, I have to say it is a bit of a challenge to find a worse comparison for him than Jae'sean Tate. I would say he is more of a poor man's Omari Spellman. Of course he has a long way to go to be on the level that Spellman was at this year. EJ may play quite a bit as a small ball 5. The positionless revolution at work perhaps.

An undersized PF whose greatest asset is his relentless motor... oh yeah, Tate is a horrible comparison, lol.

Lest you think I am selling EJ, er, "short"... I noted he's taller than Tate and a better outside shooter. That's gonna make him one heck of a player at the college level. Perimeter skills are gonna take a lot of development before he is a NBA prospect, particularly his ballhandling. That's the one area that Tate was maybe slightly better than EJ in.

jerry meyer with a crystal ball today for timme to duke. that's in addition to a couple more recent cb's to duke. 247 lists him as a power forward; however, to me, he looks more like a center. the distinction may not matter too much. isaiah stewart certainly is a true center and is overwhelmingly favored to go to duke. throw in wendell moore (small forward) as a near certainty as well as possibly vernon carey (power forward), and duke may not have a need to offer liddell. i really hope they don't. something tells me the offer would turn into a commitment rather quickly. unfortunately, k may go 6-deep for 2019, and we all know how they have no problem taking multiple blue chips at the same position.
