Insider info is all over the place on this one. Without going into details it sounds like it will be one of OSU, Mizzou, or Illinois, but no one is sure who (some insiders think it is an OSU-Mizzou battle, others think it is OSU-Illinois, and a few even think it is Illinois-Mizzou... but the general feeling at this very moment is that it might be OSU-Illinois). And sounds like EJ will be visiting Illinois on the 21st and then a decision should come shortly after.
At the end of the day it will be almost a month since his OSU visit, probably, before EJ decides and the home state school gets the last crack at him. Holtmann's already done an in-home with EJ which, in my opinion, wasn't ideal because I think Holtmann was trying to wrap this up after the Missouri visit and that didn't happen because EJ still wants to visit Illinois, so now Illinois has an in-home left with him this week and they get what will probably be the last OV.
Again, I think all things being equal, EJ likes OSU and our coaching staff better than he likes Illinois and Underwood. BUT there are several other factors working in Illinois' favor with this recruitment and the fact that they get the last couple visits to try to build up their momentum going into his final decision, while the OSU visit starts to fade, could very easily mean this one goes Illinois' way. Really not sure how this is going to break.
If we don't get EJ, based on where are other recruitments are at, I think we only sign Carton and Gaffney in the fall. Brandon Newman is an outside possibility if we find out soon enough on EJ to be able to make a really strong push on Brandon, but I think Purdue is really in prime position in that recruitment.
