Coach Matta and staff were in attendence this past weekend to watch Koufos return to the court at the King James Classic. Koufos performed well but his foot was sore and obviously giving him some trouble as the tourney went on. Koufos played in two full games and his stamina is a problem at this point. Ohio State, Louisville and Maryland are his top three followed by Michigan, MSU, Akron, North Carolina and Duke.

Does anyone else keep thinking Dirk when thinking about Kosta. It is not often you get a 7'1'' guy that can shoot the outside jumper, mix it up inside and also play a little off the dribble.

Koufos has the rare combination of the size to play inside and the ability to also play on the perimeter. He will create mismatches on offense, the only concern is his ability to match-up on the defensive end. That will come in time.

Just imagine having him on the court along with Oden, Cook, Conley and Lighty in 07......

Koufos feels his foot is about 75% at this point. His top five schools are Ohio State, Maryland, Louisville, Michigan and Michigan State. Kosta feels he will make a decision within the next two months. When speaking about Ohio State, mentions the coaching staff, atmosphere and location of the school as pluses.

My take: He has visited each school on his list and I believe he knows where he wants to go but wants to take his time and be sure. I feel really good about OSU's chances.

No worries on D with that lineup, just play a matchup zone. That would be a huge zone.

Video of Koufos in action.

My Take: There is no way to put it, besides to say that he is completly unguardable at the college level. He runs the floor very well for a big man. He has a turn around J which can not even be contested that he has great touch on. He also shows his touch from the foul line. He also shows that he can contest shots and play post defense. If we are able to land him, which I think we will, he would be getting talked about like Greg Oden in terms of being the biggest get ever for tOSU.

I agree that Koufos is an outstanding prospect and that video is impressive, what is more impressive is that he is not 100% in that video, maybe 75-80%.

His potential is unlimited, he may not be done growing and shows good athletic ability, his combination of skills and athletic ability mixed with his size will cause major problems for opponents at the next level.

He is a must get for Matta and staff.

Koufos was excited to be back on the court this past month at the King James event. Kosta will take a few weeks off to try to improve his stamina. Ohio State, Maryland, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Akron, North Carolina and Duke are at the top of his list. A timetable for a decision may be in June or July.
