PF Brayden Bell (official thread)

Generally when you see someone with as little court time as Bell it is because they haven't mastered the D. Would rather see us go small than than see us get hammered down low.

CONFIRMED: Brayden Bell To Transfer

I've read some recent speculation on the potential impending transfer of Brayden Bell, possibly to Utah State. Anybody have insight?

I certainly hope it is not true. I like Brayden's stroke, he's a better rebounder than he gets credit for, and he could provide a great deal of depth in the frontcourt.

As much as I like Brayden, he is a big man, and we have three big men coming to play for us in the next three years who will absolutely dominate inside. His chances of seeing extensive court time as anything but a backup are limited.

For his sake, it may be in his best interest to transfer if he wants to see valuable playing time IMO.

As true as that may be it would be nice to hold 5 on 5 practices THIS year.

We had 6 returning scholarship players, but losing Mayes makes that 5. There were five coming in but there are unconfirmed reports Hunter may have issues. If we should lose Bell.....

Hopefully Braden will embrace the idea that being a smaller part of something big is as good as being a bigger part of something small.

I don't think you guys are remembering a player named Doleman who played for TM at Xavier. He was about the same height as Bell and was not a really great athlete but had a nice 15' jump shot. I think Bell and MT could fill that role for Matta.

Not the case at all. We are simply describing the scenario and what is most likely going through Bell's head right now.

There is obviously a role Bell could fill on Matta's team, and I am willing to bet 75% or more of the people on here would like to see him stick around, however, remember that the kid is only a sophomore in standing and is definitely undeveloped, raw talent that needs work to get to the next level. If Bell thinks he may see very limited time on the court, he may think twice about remaining here.

or he may stay. the ability to learn under a guy who with all due respect is nothing short of a great man, receive a quality education, and play any role is a shot many kids would jump at. matta is one of the best salesmen in country right now. a kid or even an adult could learn a ton from mattas attitude and approach on life.

most of you guys know how i feel about wooden and his philosphy on life a few things come to my mind.

“success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”

"things turn out best for people who make the best out of the way things turn out”

" always tried to make clear that basketball is not the ultimate. It is of small importance in comparison to the total life we live."

“what you are as a person is far more important that what you are as a basketball player.”

i could go on, but i think you folks get the point

You're absolutely right jo, and I for one hope he takes advantage of the wonderful opportunity this university can offer him.
whats the world comming to golfer and i are agreeing on everythign today.

but all that what i said earlier, brayden needs to do what is best for him, coach matta needs to be forward with his plan and future for brayden so the two can reach a point that is mutually benfeicial to the two. time will tell...
