I didn't see this one in the SEC thread, so I thought I'd put it here for grins

PETA says the time has come for the SEC's first robot mascot - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF - Yahoo! Sports

In the wake of the untimely death of the University of Georgia's (UGA) bulldog mascot, Uga VII, PETA has asked the school's athletic director, Damon M. Evans, to replace the mascot with an animatronic dog -- or to rely solely on a costumed mascot -- instead of using another real bulldog. Bulldogs are prone to breathing difficulties, hip dysplasia, heart disorders, and other congenital ailments, and acquiring a dog from a breeder perpetuates the animal overpopulation crisis while causing another dog waiting in an animal shelter to be condemned to death.

Theres more in the article. Good stuff, PETA!

PETA

I love animals, but why do well intentioned people go too far and do it too often? Don't they realize they minimize their efforts with such ubsurd nonsense.

I don't think animals should ever be treated badly but if they spent as much time with human efforts and quit being so Gosh Darn Stupid they would be viewed in better terms and be much more effective.

I have never really understood PETAs end game.

If we stop eating beef do they think folks will start keeping bovine pets? There will simply be fewer cows.

If there are no mink coats you will have as many folks raising minks as raise groundhogs.

And their stated concern here seems to be the reduction of the overall dog population in the world. Does the E stand for "ethical" or "extinction"?

Something that really needs to be publicized because it really underscores how radical PETA's agenda is. PETA supports the following legally enforced policies

  • An end to purebred dogs
  • An end to pet ownership
They are also the largest euthanizer of dogs in the United States. Any dog "rescued" or adopted by PETA or a PETA surrogate is likely to be put to death.

The really cruel part is they do it by running Sarah McLachlan songs on a loop until the poor little bastards just off themselves.
