People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

Black house huh?
No. Natural brick. (I do cringe a bit when people paint the brick - any color. But I don't think that's a "pet peeve".)

On one hand I agree on the other I think one has the right to be angry when their neighbors ghetto up the neighborhood
I agree - when neighbors "ghetto up the neighborhood", I'd be angry too. But is a black house really "ghettoing up the neighborhood"? It seems like a very "look at me" thing to do, like dying your hair pink or driving a bright orange car. But I don't know that "ghetto" is the word that I would use.

I do not think it is ghetto, I think like you, it is a "Look at me" move and an ugly one at that.

I've never heard of MIPS. Also, when people talk about computers my brain tends to curl up in the corner and cry.

My brother and I were just talking about these three words/phrases:
1. "A whole nother". This doesn't bother me much, and I catch myself saying it.
2. "Very unique". This one drives me nuts, but I say it around my brother because he goes even more crazy. "Unique" means that it's the only one. There aren't varying degrees of uniqueness. Something is either unique or it isn't.
3. "I could care less". This one bothers me because it confuses me. I have to take a moment to figure out what the other guy is talking about. Is he saying he cares at least a little, and could care less? Or is he a doof and he really COULDN'T care less, because he already cares zero?
4. "Ask" as a noun. "The ask is to put this customer at the top of the list." "Ask" is a verb. Get it straight.
5. "I ain't gonna lie." Oh? If you hadn't said that, should I guess that you might lie to me? But now that you said that, I need to believe you? Maybe you're lying about whether you're going to lie. Along the same thread, the same is when people say, "Truthfully," or "To tell you the truth."
