People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

People that go by coach in none sporting settings or have an expectation that people in general call them coach.
I know a retired pot bellied boomer like that. He still dresses as if he's heading down to the field to coach the boys, the t-shirt with the program's emblem and the sweat pants and ball cap. I let him have it though, those were his glory days and it is probably hard to let go.

Here is the thing, if it was a situation like that I could understand it. Someone that has been coaching football for 30 years in the same small town and everyone just naturally calls him coach. Go for it. But I have this woman that I work with who insists people call her coach. She evidently coached basketball somewhere in Mississippi like 10 years ago and won a state championship, but she will literally ignore people if they call her by her last name

sounds like a head case to me

I could think of “alternate names” to call her.

People that are starting their own little business and go around asking retailers to sell them their product at cost.

I guess I can see your point if they're offended or insulted that you won't give them their product at cost. But I guess it doesn't hurt to ask, really. If they're understanding then I wouldn't really care that they asked.
I think there was a story a while back about some influencer (I guess I could post in this thread about "influencers" in general) who was offended that some hotel wouldn't give her a free night. Maybe it was just a cheaper rate. I guess it annoys me that these influencers think they deserve the best garbage because they have X million followers.

Went to the store and got a twofer. First the cashier who thinks customer service is asking every customer how they're doing, about their family and having a conversation while checking them out as slowly as possible and then, the city service dial-a-ride that employs senior volunteers. The old codger driving must have thought he was driving a horse and buggy, doing about the same speed. Then when I managed to pass him he's squinting and practically has his face pressed against the windshield trying to see. He looked less qualified to drive than his passengers.

First day back in the office after being remote for 2.5 years. Parking has jumped from $3.75/day (meter) to $11. Fuck that. Also, blaring my music at ear-splitting levels is apparently annoying folks. The fuck?
