Game Thread Penn State vs tOSU, Sat Nov 13, 3:30 ET ABC/ESPN

I don't want to be overly dramatic, but this might be the game right here. If PSU converts, it will be hard to imagine keeping them out of the end zone. 21-3 at half is a mountain to overcome. Maybe OSU wakes up before it's too late.

Right on the money here. There are certain plays that define a season (think back to the blocked FG and return for a TD against Sparty in '05, or Holy Buckeye in '02). While today's "stand" wasn't that spectacular, it very well could have saved the season, at least in BCS terms.

Observations as I fast-forward thru the first half to watch again:

The thing that drives me crazy about this year's team is that they (especially the O-line) seem unprepared to play at the opening kickoff, but then dominate late in the game. It's not just wearing down opponents. Execution was horrible in the first half, guys were beat on the first step. Second half OSU started to play to their proper level.

Hines deserves a lot of credit for getting things going with some solid tackles.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Some of the play calling in the first half was very poor; playing not to lose. I get the impression that the coaching staff doesn't have much faith in the offense. I understand that, but it seems to me that calling an endless string of low-risk:low-reward plays doesn't do much to give the O confidence.

Nice adjustments in the secondary. I can't believe it was intentional, but the soft cushion on the short routes led to INTs in the second. Why they ever thought that McLovin could throw over 15 yds is something that I refuse to contemplate.

TP looked much more comfortable running than he has since he tweaked his quad vs. ILL.

These teams know each other very well. PSU's O-line schemes have played our D-line as well as anyone over the past few years. I think OSU had the edge in talent, PSU the edge in tactics.

Barring some spectacular showings in the next two games, Boom and Sanzo should share the team's offensive MVP.

Mental errors. Not acceptable at this point in the season.

Dex Larrimore is not a game-breaker, but does his job on every down. Reminds me of Tim Anderson.

Pryor and Saine ran the option hand-off very well in the second half. May have been the key to the game. Saine deserves a bunch of credit for stepping up when Boom needed a spell.

Please, God, let this team play from the opening kick-off in the next three games like did in the second half today.

The 98 yard drive was huge obviously. But what stands out to me about it is that everyone seemed to play with a different level of energy on that series. That's by far the most decisive I've seen TP run the ball in a long time. When he shows the ability to run the ball like that, it just takes our offense to a different level. I love it when the team shows that type of determination. Great come back and character showed by the team today.

Watching Boom run with such conviction the last few games has been a thing of beauty. But also this O-line has proved (as it did at the end of last year) that our running game can take over a game.

One underrated aspect of Pryor announcing his return for next season: Another year of pathetic butthurt from Penn State fans over his recruitment.

I was reading a thread on one of their boards where somebody proclaimed (in the middle of the second half!) that McGloin was the best player on the field.

Just got back to the hotel from the game.

I don't know what it sounded like on TV but the crowd got it going in the second half and fed off the team and vice versa.

Over 300 yards rushing and 300+ yards of offense in the second half. What a tail of two halves. A butt kicking in the first half and an ass whooping in the second.

The bad. The booing at the end of the first half. I hate that. Not a fan ever. I also seemed to be surrounded by Bucknutters. The worst was the faculty member and her friend behind me that bitched the entire first half. Her friend wanted someone to "take Tressel outside and shoot him". Once Ohio State took the lead in the second half they left. Sorry for the rant but I can't stand fair weather fans.

I'm not a fan of those kinda fans. I watch every fucking second of an OSU game. Had OSU continued to get the shit kicked outta of em, I would of kept watching until the very end. Some fans just don't love this shit like alot of us here do.

wow, just read this was the biggest comeback victory under Tressel, really hard to believe

Yeah, we don't have a ton of comebacks but we also protect the lead as well as/better then just about anyone.

The other comebacks that come to mind would be 10 points against PSU in 2005 and MSU in 2005, and 9 points against Michigan in 2005 (which was made up all in the 4th quarter). This game was of course an 11 point comeback
