Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I don't know that the "I remember Joe" nerds will ever be gone.
The cheaters up north still have the "We won 90% of our games before the forward pass was legalized, and that's why we're so awesome!" group. I see no reason to think that either group will ever be gone.
If @BB73 had done his damn job and shanked Fielding Yost when he had the chance, we wouldn’t have to put up with that shit …

Yeah, I don't think this was a person who remembers seeing it live. I think they remember what their parents told them. And their kids will remember what they tell them. There used to be a man that didn't allow for any tomfoolery......he was a Saint. Then the corrupt NCAA ran him out of town because they were jealous.

and the cowardly BOT

can't forget them

Yeah - what a classic power move.
"Yeah, you found out that I was covering for a child pedophile for 10+ years, but you shouldn't consider firing me, because I'm just going to retire in 4 months."
"Hey police. Don't bother trying to come arrest me after I killed 20 people. I'll just move to Mexico in 4 months."
But the cowardly BOT fired the saint before he got a chance to leave on his own terms. What cowards.

I always thought they were cowardly for giving in to the extortion demands of the so called "victims" (or whatever you want to call them)?

Eventually, the "I remember Joe" cohort will die off but that's another 20 years or so and it's not just guys old enough to remember Joe the actual coach.

They have created Joe the legend and younger people have bought into it hook, line and cult-like sinker.

A few years ago I saw a young guy driving a car with a 409 sticker.
I hear you. I can say that when I was with some of the players from the 2011-12 team they wanted nothing to do with worshiping JoePa. My host, who played there in 79-83 wants to have the field named the Joe Paterno field at Beaver Stadium. That's not happening either ....

Oh, there were players from that 2011-12 team that still worshipped Paterno and were vocal about it. Have we forgotten about guys like Mike "Anabolic" Mauti ( RIP )?

Mauti was one of the guys there. Along with Zordich and Farrel (Offensive lineman). I can say that I did not specifically talk to Mauti about this but Farrel told me none of the "guys" were interested in supporting a Joe Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium cause.

Yeah......now we've caught you in a lie. You're trying to big time us with your Penn State connections, but you made a classic mistake. You shared too many details. When liars share too many details, they're always going to slip up.

Mauti died in 2012.

I thought it was his "catfishing girlfriend" that died.

Oh wait, I'm getting my douchey linebackers confused. 8D

I could see that. After all, the scandal totally upended their college careers. It wouldn't surprise me if some became anti-paterno.

The older ones, however, are all in on Joesus.

Totally agree.

The day before the game we arrived in Happy Valley. It was just me and my host (Uncle to my son-in-law). I finally muster the courage to ask the question .... So what was your experience with JoePa ? He turns to me and says .... Next to my own father he was the most influential person in his life. Needless to say all of my other questions went unasked. :ohno:

Me: So, your father looked the other way while your uncle ass raped you? I could see how that might influence you.

I had a hs friend who played on the second championship team in the 80s. We never stayed in contact, but I've heard he's all in on the cult of Joesus...signs all the petitions by the "lettermen."
