Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Not worth linking anything, but there's several posts on PSU's message board about "I wish we had gone after this coach or that coach".
Don't they remember that they DID go after these other coaches? And they all said "no"? No one wanted to be there.
The funny meme going around was saying that the best candidate to be Penn State's next coach was James Franklin.

Eastern time zone Boise of the 80's.

Who wants to go to a nut job fanbase that still worships a dead guy and has expectations like they are a real blue blood? To make it even more toxic, it's in the middle of nowhere making it even harder to recruit to AND you have to knock it our of the park in talent acquisition because the talent level is s low AND they don't spend top shelf money on NIL.

To recap;

-low talent level
-harder to recruit to
-middle of the B1G in NIL spending. Barely top 25 nationally
-fanbase expectations = dominate college football or fire the coach
-coach is compared to their personal Lord and Savior, Joesus
-The Sandusky/Paterno radioactive cloud will linger forever

Every top coach in America is tripping over each other to get in line for that action, I'm sure.

Had to be around people for a breast cancer walk recently. Overheard the conversation of how these kids are getting paid millions and how back when Joe was around he made sure they were good kids who went to class and Joe didn't even take a salary and.........

Jax aint exaggerating, folks. This is who they are.

Eventually, the "I remember Joe" cohort will die off but that's another 20 years or so and it's not just guys old enough to remember Joe the actual coach.

They have created Joe the legend and younger people have bought into it hook, line and cult-like sinker.

A few years ago I saw a young guy driving a car with a 409 sticker.

I don't know that the "I remember Joe" nerds will ever be gone.
The cheaters up north still have the "We won 90% of our games before the forward pass was legalized, and that's why we're so awesome!" group. I see no reason to think that either group will ever be gone.

Yeah, I don't think this was a person who remembers seeing it live. I think they remember what their parents told them. And their kids will remember what they tell them. There used to be a man that didn't allow for any tomfoolery......he was a Saint. Then the corrupt NCAA ran him out of town because they were jealous.

He also told Nixon to suck it when Nixon tried to let Penn State share the national championship, when Penn State refused to play - I think it was Texas.
Of course, there's no recording of that conversation - it was done in private. How convenient.
