Sad to say I know from firsthand experience this year
Sad to say I know from firsthand experience this year
He’s doing good things for sure but still…ole piss smhJust sayin': Joey Freshwater is just getting started:
"I really do believe we're just getting started," Kiffin said. "I think that we're doing something. We're on our way to something really special."
OSU was not as good then. OSU took a big step forward. Their big jump was psu sanctions. That is reality. During sanctions they added 5 4 or 5* recruits that first season who would have gone to psu. OSU has outrecruited psu every recruiting class since then. 12 straight. Maybe joe should have retired 10 years sooner.
Pennsylvania also has about half as much talent as we did when Joe was coach.
The Sandusky stink is still on the program. You can't go on another board without reading ped state. Psu football alumni are not pushing their kids to psu.
Killin' time.. I figured I'd see what the cult thinks of the goings-on in football.
They're discussing what OSU fans' reaction is to Chip Kelly coming to Ohio State. Umm.. can't you go look on those boards, yourself? Whatever. Anyway, they give their opinions, which is fine. Somehow, the talk gets to how Ohio State is in a level above Penn State. Someone points out that they were 3-7 against Ohio State in Paterno's last 10 games, and they are 1-9 against Ohio State in Franklin's 10 games.
What is the reaction on the OSU boards to the Kelly news?
I can't imagine that Buckeye fans are thrilled. UCLA fans are probably happier.pennstate.forums.rivals.com
First, I don't follow recruiting, so I'll let someone else here comment that Penn State was going to get 5 4-5 star players that first season (2012), and they all went to Ohio State. Seems high to me. But I will say that Ohio State beat Penn State 7 of those 10 years, and won the conference outright in 2002, 2006, 2007, and 2009 (yeah, I know, tied with Iowa in 2002, but I'm counting 8-0 as winning it outright). Penn State won it in 2005 and 2008, and had losses both of those years to technically tie for the championship. I think Ohio State didn't really need Penn State's sanctions to be on top - they were already on top.
As for the "Sandusky stink", that may be true. But if the recruits are visiting message boards to see what the opinions are of the recruiting teams, then you have more to worry about with your cult of a fanbase. My guess, though, is that recruits really don't care about what happened on campus before they were born.
That makes sense. But 12 years later, we can see the sanctions from tatgate didn't hurt Ohio State's recruiting. Their logic would make sense if Ohio State and Penn State were the only options. But there are a hundred other options. There are a dozen other teams considered "contenders". If players were going to let the sanctions against Ohio State hurt their recruitment to Ohio State, you'd think they'd go to one of those other teams, instead. But they didn't. Ohio State managed those sanctions and recruiting very well. They didn't go to Ohio State because of Penn State's sanctions - they went to Ohio State because of Ohio State and Urban Meyer. What they're really saying is that tatgate should have been their shoe in the door to change the narrative and grab some kids who didn't want to sit out sanctions.
Instead, their actual illegal activity came to light and therefore they didn't get to profit off of negative recruiting us.
If I recall correctly, the NCAA allowed Meyer to put together his staff so they could recruit while Luke's staff prepared for the Gator Bowl. Even knowing what the sanctions would be for 2012, recruiting saw a huge jump once Meyer was on board. That makes sense. Yeah, but my point is that they (Penn State fans) are complaining that Ohio State got Penn State's recruits because of Penn State's sanctions. Kujikara says that Penn State fans think that they should have gotten Ohio State's recruits because of Ohio State's sanctions. And that may be correct. But Ohio State and Penn State aren't the only choices. If one team gets sanctioned, it isn't going to help another team a lot. It'll help 10-15 other teams a little. If I recall correctly, the NCAA allowed Meyer to put together his staff so they could recruit while Luke's staff prepared for the Gator Bowl.
