Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Any idea how bwi is spinning that one, other than simply saying Curley is flat out lying?

only other thing I could imagine is the "Joe was just a poor senile old man by then" defense

Here on earth, Curley's testimony pretty much proves that Joe Knew at least as far back as 1998 and was therefore a perjurer as well as an enabler of child rape.

Success with Honor indeed.

And when he stood on his steps and said "victims or whatever you want to call them", he absolutely knew they were victims of the worst kind.

Fucking monster.

If I remember correctly (and I like to think that I do):

1. Everyone called him "Joe", so if they were referring to this mysterious "Coach" person, it was obviously someone else.
2. Joe never learned how to use email, so it couldn't have been who they were referring to as "Coach"
3. Joe was such a kind and sweet old man, it never occurred to him that men would want to have sex with young boys.

He only knew that there was an investigation.....he didn't know what it was about.

And we all know that Paterno was the kind of guy who would learn that one of his long time coordinators was being investigated by the police and his very next thought would be "Hmmmm.....I wonder what's for lunch".

With respect to #3, if Joe was the vigorous catholic he claimed to be, he would well know that old men may like engaging with such activities with young boys.

And despite being old and senile, he still had the power to.....
  • Force out a university VP for daring to suggest that football players be disciplined like regular students
  • See to it that one of his retiring coaches (w no education beyond a Master in Phys Ed) was seriously considered as Dean of the College of Science
  • Have his 3 "bosses" reconsider notifying authorities about a pedophilia incident in the football facility after speaking with him
  • Throw the university President out of his house for suggesting that they merely come up with a timeline for his retirement and succession
Motherfucker must have been a force of nature before he got old and senile.

Spanier guilty on 1 felony count. Not guilty on the other two including the conspiracy. The cult claiming victory over the later but still pissed Spanier was convicted on anything.

The cult was never going to link any of this to Joesus even if Spanier broke down and had a Colonel Jessup moment: "you're God damn right Paterno ordered the coverup." Just have to take solace in that this further nails Paterno to the wall for posterity and history and further shines a light on how sick and delusional his cult is.
