It sounds like Graham Spanier is going to fight to the bitter end instead of taking a deal. The articles seem to indicate that Curley and Schultz have been actively working with the prosecution for at least a month on the case against Spanier. So if this does go to trial I think we'll get details and they'll paint a picture of collusion or strong influence to not report Sandusky and the level of conversation that was had around that decision.Interesting; they plea down - saves the cost and time of a trial - they accept the "guilty" label, they accept time and fine and realize they're done in terms of academia.
But what concerns me is that this also suppresses what will be released to the media and the public. It seems to me that the victims and their families deserve to have that information out there, that not only were they abused, but that the university, the athletic department and the coach turned a blind eye to that abuse until the truth got out and then they did their best to keep the story suppressed. Does FOIA work in a situation such as this?
