Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Interesting; they plea down - saves the cost and time of a trial - they accept the "guilty" label, they accept time and fine and realize they're done in terms of academia.

But what concerns me is that this also suppresses what will be released to the media and the public. It seems to me that the victims and their families deserve to have that information out there, that not only were they abused, but that the university, the athletic department and the coach turned a blind eye to that abuse until the truth got out and then they did their best to keep the story suppressed. Does FOIA work in a situation such as this?
It sounds like Graham Spanier is going to fight to the bitter end instead of taking a deal. The articles seem to indicate that Curley and Schultz have been actively working with the prosecution for at least a month on the case against Spanier. So if this does go to trial I think we'll get details and they'll paint a picture of collusion or strong influence to not report Sandusky and the level of conversation that was had around that decision.

Obviously, BWI will always grasp onto whatever bullshit rationalization they can, but the prevailing rationale over there seems to be that Schultz and Curley just did a 360 degree windmill dunk in the face of the BoT, the NCAA, Louis Freeh and the national media by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor when they were facing multiple felonies. Only in the Cult's world would pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of children be viewed as some kind of gigantic win and "proof" that the whole scandal was a witch hunt.

Have you even read the Freeh Report?

Don't you mean the fact-Freeh Report bought and paid for by the scumbag Board of Trustees? I prefer the completely unbiased Paterno Report in which the findings affirm the sainthood of Joesus.

On another note, I ventured over to the Shag to see what people saying about Curley and Schultz pleading guilty, and there seems to be a bit nostalgia over there with several posters lamenting that they miss your hot takes on Joesus and Ped St. in general. Of course, that nostalgia is also tempered by a sad acknowledgement "Don't know why he had to pick a fight with Texas."

Because they're Texas. Sooner or later, everyone tires of their bullshit, just like all their conference mates.

At the risk of Thread Jacking - love this movie. At the same time, I think of several interviews I've heard with Mel Brooks saying he didn't think he could make Blazing Saddles in today's PC conscious market. I wonder if the same thing applies to Airplane.

The direct descendants to the movie "Airplane!" In today's market are the dumb parody movies.
"Scary Movie", "Not Another Teen Movie", "Meet the Spartans", "50 Shades of Black" etc.
The equivalent to "Airplane!" would be, IMO, "Sausage Party". :roll1:

So here's some new and breaking information from the testimony of Curley:
Schultz presented Curley with email streams during which he and Schultz discussed the 1998 investigation. In one entry, Curley asked for an update and told Schultz, “I have touched base with coach. Keep us posted.”

The coach mentioned in the email was head football coach Joe Paterno, Curley said. In another email seeking an update, Curley told Schultz that “coach is anxious to hear where it stands.”
I'm surprised at this. I fully believed that "coach" meant the assistant women's rowing coach.
