Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Yep, and the Great Lakes voters treated them better than every other region, including their beloved NE and Mid-Atlantic. They just can't fathom the fact that some Midwestern voters might have sincerely believed that the Corn was better just like they can't fathom that honest, unbiased refs might actually make calls that go against them.

And quite honestly, losing to Michigan was the best thing that ever could have happened to Joesus. USC or Texas would have absolutely plunger raped him.
He wouldn't have played USC or Texas. Nobody was going to put either of those teams at #3 for Penn State. For some reason they think they had a walk to the NC that year if not for the Michigan game. We're talking about probably the best NC game of the BCS era (2002 excluded of course). 2005 is the posterchild for the BCS getting it right. And they think they somehow would have upset that apple cart.

They would have just blamed it on the "crooked pole voters"

lol. I'm not about to stop the shag army, but I don't think those are years they claim NCs. Just years where they're really proud of their team. I think 2012 made it up there.

I don't know about the old shit, but I know the Paterno years were "we were undefeated and cheated out of an NC" as I know for a fact he had championship rings made for the team in 68, 69, 73 and 94.

yeah but 2005 falls under the ring of "good try, good effort". it doesn't actually say NATIONAL CHAMPIONS or anything like it did when they put 94 on their scoreboard and had it say "1994 New York Times National Champions".

I understand that you're allowed to give the players little awards like that - national championship rings, gold pants trinkets, etc. But can you give that stuff to the players who DON'T win? "You didn't win a single game. Here's your ring." What's the extent to which you can give the players rings?
