Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Isn't that admitting that he didn't go to the police? Their story all along was that since the VP of Finance was in charge of police somehow (probably ran their budget or some [Mark May]), that he counted as the highest policeman on campus. Now they're saying even if he did go to the police, nothing would have happened.

Precisely. He was the university VP for finance, and somewhere in a bubble on a giant flow chart beneath his office was the university police department. He had no day-to-day oversight of the police department, did not take an active management role in it and was never--repeat NEVER--in his life licensed as a law enforcement officer.

However, the cult has discovered that on page 43 of the Freeh report there is an erroneous useage of a semicolon. Therefore Joesus is innocent! Restore the wins, put the statue up, give the $60M back, let us go to the ACC and BEAT NEBRASKA!

I see now Sandusky gets to "keep" his $4000 a month retirement. The fix is in. What did the state get in return?

Sounds like it's not a done deal yet. The arbitrator ruled, but the State Employee's Retirement Board needs to reinstate it. If they do, they will also likely cut a check for the months that Jerry's pension has been suspended, which would be $125,000+

Arbitrator rules Jerry Sandusky should receive $4,900/month pension

A Pennsylvania arbitrator ruled that Jerry Sandusky should receive his $4,900-a-month pension payments as well as back pension payments dating back to October 2012, when he was convicted on 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys.

The state of Pennsylvania ended Sandusky’s pension payments upon his conviction. But from the Associated Press:

Hearing examiner Michael Bangs wrote in an opinion dated Thursday but made public Monday that it was clear the former assistant football coach was no longer a Penn State employee after his 1999 retirement. That was critical to the pension dispute because the state Pension Forfeiture Act was expanded five years later, in 2004, to add sexual offenses to the list of crimes that trigger forfeiture.

“The Pennsylvania forfeiture law is simply not applicable to SERS’ members who commit crimes after they have begun receiving their pensions, which is really what SERS is attempting to do in this case,” Bangs wrote. “The courts simply cannot extend the current law beyond any rational interpretation of its current form.”

Following responses from Sandusky’s camp and the State Employees’ Retirement System, the state’s retirement system board will decide whether to follow the arbitrator’s recommendation and reinstate Sandusky’s pension. The AP report states that decision could come this fall, though if it rules against Sandusky he could register an appeal in state court.

If the board rules in favor of Sandusky in November, for example, he’d be owed 25 months of back payments — which comes out to $122,500.

Of course, as the article states, should the Board rule against the Pedophile, he could appeal to the State Court.....

He must have been an awful coach...

In all seriousness, even if he keeps his 409, his all-time winning percentage is 0.746. Pretty good. That's roughly a 9-3 season every year.

But since joining the Big Ten, his conference record was 95-54, for a 0.638 percentage. Meh. Compared to Ohio State (132-35-1, 0.789), Nebraska (17-7, .708), and Michigan (112-56, 0.667) since 1993. Congratulations - you beat Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan State. Joe Paterno average season was about 5-3.

1994!
409!

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to 409, no more, no less. 409 shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be 409. 410 shalt thou not count, neither count thou 408, excepting that thou then proceed to 409. 411 is right out. Once the number 409, being the 409th number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.
