maybe, maybe not. But this isn't about Jeff alone.Reply We've seen several of these moves. Again, no unexpected, but clearly a move away from the Penn State culture of old.

We will not be U of Texas, tOSU and Michigan.

That's not to say this is "good" or "bad" but it is certainly "different." And, it causes one to reflect back and revisit why you feel close to Penn State and why you support the football team et all. I support and love Penn State. But what make Penn State different from Ohio State? Not a lot, really. At least, not anymore.

No, inbred mutant, you won't be scUM, Ohio State or Texas. Why? Because those schools are actually successful in some way, shape or form. You're a glorified community college in the middle of BFE who allowed a football coach to dictate what the school did with student athletes and covered up rape of children.

Is it just me, or does everyone you know who attended PSU seem to feel obliged to make absolutely certain that you know they attended school there? Like to the extent of mentioning it 5 times the first time you meet them?

It's much more than just school pride.....it's almost like they are bragging about it - thinking that you will be....something (Impressed? Awestruck? I don't know what) - not realizing that nobody really gives a damn.

Very strange.

Yes! I have several people who I've re-connected with via facebook who do that shit, practically every day. The one friend/PSU grad who doesn't do that shit is also the most successful too. Yes I am implying there is a pattern.

I call that the Harvard Rule: "When you meet somebody who went to Harvard, they will tell you they went to Harvard in the first 5 minutes after you meet them." With Ped state it is worse, like they have to reveal their school to you angrily. The best way to shut them up is to say "wooooooowwwwww."

Earlier this week, I met someone who within the first 2 minutes announced that she was a State Penn graduate. I gave her the same response that I give skunkbear alumni. A very simple, "I'm so sorry."
