Penn State should leave the NCAA
It is in vain, sir, to extentuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace--but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! Patrick Henry, March 23rd., 1775 to the Virginia Convention.

I'm not sure if it could ever happen, but Penn State University has been so egregiously harmed by the NCAA that the school should follow a course that would free it from the shackles and chains of the NCAA tyranny. Even though Penn State had one of the highest graduation rates, won with honor, and had no major NCAA violations for decades, the NCAA decided to mete out the toughest sanctions ever on an innocent PSU football program. And so there are two choices, Penn State can take this laying down like they are Mark Emmert's whipping boy or Penn State can quit the NCAA and try to form a new league/athletic association of elite schools. I think in just a few years time there would be several schools in the new league/association and in time it would thrive. It could provide an alternative to the NCAA. Schools like Miami (about to be hammered by NCAA) might be interested in such a league/association.

I know this sounds crazy, but if you think about it it is not that crazy. Membership in the NCAA is voluntary. We don't have to accept squat from the NCAA if we just quit them. I understand there is big bucks involved but how about the $60 Million dollars PSU has to pay to the NCAA?!? Wouldn't have to pay it if we quit the dance.

A new college athletic association could work. When ESPN was first created, most pundits did not give the network a chance in hell of ever getting off the ground. They said a network devoted to 24/7 coverage of all sports would never fly. WRONG! Back when USA Today newspaper was first created...same thing most said that a national newspaper would never work. WRONG! The fledgling American Football League was not given much of a chance to compete against the long established National Football League and yet just a few years into their existence they had grown so strong that a merger between the two leagues ensued. By just the third Super Bowl ever the New York Jets and Joe 'Willie' Namath shocked the professional football world by defeating the heavily favored Baltimore Colts 16-7. For that matter our entire nation was formed out of the longest of shots, given that England was the strongest military power on the earth. And yet what seemed impossible actually came to fruition and today America is free.

I think if a petition were started (should be drawn professionally by an attorney) to have Penn State leave the NCAA that the BOT would most likely follow up on that. The NCAA is not going to just go away; but Penn State can certainly make the NCAA go away by ceasing to be a member. It could take ten years or more but I think that in time a new college league/association would be thriving with Penn State as the first member school. This could be an elite league of top schools. I think a lot of other schools would welcome escaping the tyranny of Mark Emmert and the National Communist Athletic Association.
While this idea will no doubt seem radical to all on here...clearly the actions of the NCAA against the innocent and model Penn St. football program are unprecedented/radical to say the least. A sports writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette actually called the vacating of the 112 wins going back to 1998 and I quote "psychotic." Forget just leaving the Big Ten, Penn State needs to leave the NCAA. It wouldn't just be Penn St. that would take a big hit financially, the B1G conference would also and the NCAA would lose as BOB has called it "one of the crown jewels of college football." Not having Penn State to kick around anymore would be a huge blow to the NCAA.

Lastly, I ask all Penn State fans: why should an outstanding world class university such as Penn State, with a football program that was the model of winning with honor and playing by the rules...why should that university and football program be subjected to such humiliation, such unfair punishment and tyranny at the hands of an unethical, flawed and corrupt organization such as the NCAA?! Not having sports teams for the next few years would not be the end of the world if a new athletic association could be started without the tyranny of the NCAA to deal with. If this all sound crazy or impossible again I would refer you to our war of independence....now THAT was crazy and impossible but those brave men went toe to toe with the greatest military power of the day and stared down death...and won. Leaving the NCAA could be done in short order and then the hard work of forming a more perfect athletic association could begin. Anyhow, its an idea whose time I think has clearly come. There's an opportunity for Penn State to lead the way in this monumental effort to free ourselves and other like minded universities from the shackles of tyranny at the hands of a despot named Mark Emmert.
This is why the I.R.S. doesn't penalize murderers who pay their taxes.

JFC, you goddamned mutants...you were not the "model of winning with honor and playing by the rules"...you let a deranged monster fuck kids without reporting him for years. Your entire image was a total fabrication, you dullard. I hate these mutants with all of my guts.

That is a cheap shot, but he was the guy with the challenging letter a few days ago, and today's actions were not anything to be proud of.
