Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Never be surprised by the words that comes out of Penn State's fans' forums:

So, basically:
"Those guys are cheaters. Throw the book at them."
"We're still totally cool - we've never done anything wrong."
"Meh - we have a black eye for something far worse."
"NO! SANDUSKY WAS WRONGFULLY ACCUSED. THAT WASN'T A FOOTBALL ISSUE! YOUR MOTHER EATS BOOGERS!!!"
"Penn State has never done anything wrong. Praise be to Joesus."

I tell them, but you can’t convince the brainwashed at PissU
Even normal sports fan irrationality prevents people from admitting that their team is/was guilty of any wrong doing

College sports fans take that to another level

Nothing touches the irrationality of the Happy Valley Cult though

We’ve all seen it

Yeah.
Remember sitcoms in the 80s? Maybe before that, too, but the 80s were when I was 4-14, so that's when I watched them the most. But remember how they always ended the same? It was comfortable, knowing the end was always the same. The only times it was different was when they ended on a season finale cliffhanger. And then the first episode of the next season brought it back to end the same. It felt nice, didn't it?
That's the Penn State message board. I know what opinions will be expressed there. But I go back because it's comfortable.

Ya know, other than Tatgate, we've acted pretty good overall I think regarding our people. I believe everyone immediately brought out the knives at the guys accused of rape and assault and stuff. The occasional dumbass fans usually get set straight which makes me proud I guess.

For an entire fan base to continue to be unwavering in their support of evil shit is unfathomable.

I'm watching 2022 game versus Penn State. Are we sure this is a win for the good guys?

16-14 now, with bad guys just about to score to go up 5. And it doesn't feel like we should be in this game this much.

I don't know about other boards, but there was a pretty robust debate about what should happen to JT and Urban. The fanbase (at least here) didn't go into full cult mode like the pedsters and dfbia.

This. When one of these shitstorms hits a team, I think it’s fair to expect the fans to go through the five stages of grieving, which finally leads to acceptance. We saw that here both individually and collectively. The Pedsters are still stuck in denial these many years later, with little or no hope of moving on. So yeah, cult.

I never thought I’d root for Rutgers over any other team. Until PissU scandal broke
