Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

For the record, I'm not a fan of telling the fans what color to wear. It's pretty lame. That black-out was a little fun, but not fun enough to brag about. Penn State, we all know, boasts about their "White Out".

Anyway, Ohio State is going to wear all scarlet for Penn State's game. At least, that's according to this post. https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/buckeyes-to-scarlet-the-shoe-for-the-penn-state-game.991993/ I won't lose any sleep over it, though.
But I found this post funny:

That just reminded me that they took the idea from Winnipeg.

So, Winnipeg was actually imitating Calgary. If anyone can say we're imitating anyone, it's Calgary and their "C of Red".
My high school was doing COLOR Outs in the late 90s, before their first Penn State white out. They don't have any actual traditions, just traditions they stole from other programs and claim as their own.

Yeah, when you think about it, the Nazi’s beat them to institutional cover up of the horrific crimes of their cult leader so the main thing they are really known for is a cheap copy of someone else’s depravity.

They aren’t even original in their sick ass cultisim.

They have a tradition of weird sexual deviance since pedo Richard Haefner murdered Betsy Aardsma in 1969, and had an alibi provided by a Professor who shared preferences with Sandusky and feared blackmail by his grad student.

So, the thread is about the Harbaugh thing.
But somehow they start talking about the Bo Schembechler thing where he supposedly knew about a doctor molesting athletes, or something. The one dude (RussianEagle) says that they need to be on the same side against the people who accuse the schools of being goobers. The next dude (SLion) says that the media has treated the two schools differently: cutting Paterno out of classic footage, while praising Bo. (His words - not mine. I'll take him at his word.)

So RussianEagle comes back:

I actually disagree. I think the media made the Michigan “scandal” a much bigger deal than it actually was. I think the problem is that people are naturally much more freaked out by 10 year old boys getting sodomized in the shower than a team doctor getting too touchy-feels with college athletes. That’s why I believe Penn Staters need to focus on the fact that sodomy in the shower never happened, not that “other schools are just as guilty as Penn State”.

So... if I understand this correctly, he's saying that, to fight this negative impression of Penn State, they need to claim that the sodomy in the shower never happened? They're going back to that well? I thought they dismissed that one, by now. I thought that they were trying to say that Joe did everything right by narking on Jer-Bear to his boss. But now there was no crime? So why did Joe nark on him? How can Joe have done the right thing AND there was no crime?
Yeah, you broke my brain.

The thread is pretty boring, but I got a good quote for why I really dislike that fanbase. I think a lot of them feel this way. People who went to Penn State are better than people didn't - even Penn State's fans.

Glad to hear you are still a Penn State fan.
I am a PENN STATE Alumnus, Class of 1985. Not just a “fan”

"I look down on you lowly peasants who didn't go to Penn State. Feel free to kiss my boots when I walk by."

Edit - I had a boss like this. He's a Penn State grad. I like him, but he's got this same mindset. And another co-worker (now retired) - same thing. Penn State grad, Penn State fan. Any time they'd see me in an Ohio State shirt (which was often), "But you didn't go to Ohio State?" "Nope. I grew up in Columbus, though, and went to probably 40 games before I graduated high school. I never missed a football game, except for the rare times that it wasn't on TV." "Where'd you go to college?" Of course, now even a dummy like me can see the point in all this. "Case Western Reserve, and I'll tell you what: If they ever play Ohio State in football, I'll go buy a CWRU shirt and wear it for the game." That would usually end the conversation.

If you really want to break their brains....try living here but not liking local teams.

They also somehow have a problem differentiating "Ohio" and "Ohio State"....despite the fact that they also have State in their name.

Being a Bronco hater in Colorado is similar, but I think you have it way worse.
HOA in Aurora, CO told me I had to take down an Ohio State flag. So I drove around and took pics of all of the Broncos flags. Told them I would take it down when those came down. I won that battle but they kept finding new petty shit.

I know other people on here get mad with the Ohio vs. Ohio State thing. I never cared when the Teddy Bear up north did it. I never cared when Penn State fans did it. I mean, it's in our fight songs. It was on our scoreboard until about the 80's.
But it does make it much more fun when the Bobcats win games.

It's not upsetting that they get it wrong, it's upsetting that they're so stupid to not be able to realize there's a difference between the two in the same way there's a difference between Penn and Penn State. Upsetting in a way that's like.....we're all humans. If you're capable of being this much of a dumbass.......what does that mean for me?

You just described every Auburn fan and most of the Southern fans I have met.
