Ohio against the world.
My high school was doing COLOR Outs in the late 90s, before their first Penn State white out. They don't have any actual traditions, just traditions they stole from other programs and claim as their own.For the record, I'm not a fan of telling the fans what color to wear. It's pretty lame. That black-out was a little fun, but not fun enough to brag about. Penn State, we all know, boasts about their "White Out".
Anyway, Ohio State is going to wear all scarlet for Penn State's game. At least, that's according to this post. https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/buckeyes-to-scarlet-the-shoe-for-the-penn-state-game.991993/ I won't lose any sleep over it, though.
But I found this post funny:
That just reminded me that they took the idea from Winnipeg.
Winnipeg White Out
The Winnipeg White Out is a hockey tradition that dates back to 1987 when hockey fans in Winnipeg were asked to wear white clothing to home playoff games in Winnipeg, creating a very intimidating effect and atmosphere. It was created as a response to the "C of Red" created by fans of the Calgary...icehockey.fandom.com
So, Winnipeg was actually imitating Calgary. If anyone can say we're imitating anyone, it's Calgary and their "C of Red".
