Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Since that "rise of a new rule" Ohio State has played Penn State 16 times. Ohio State has won 13 of those.

So.... let's break that down:
2006 - Penn State was winning 3-0 at halftime. Then their coached pooped his pants. (Actually, it was before that, but he was in the locker room while he was changing.) Then Ohio State probably got away with some holding calls ne took a 14-6 lead late. Jenkins had the pick-6, and, you know.... being Ohio State and all, he probably dropped the ball before he got into the endzone. Cheater referees and all. Let's call this game a win for Penn State.
2007 - I don't know that I can find a way to make this a win for Penn State. Let's call it a win for Ohio State.
2008 - Win for Penn State.
2009 - I think I have to keep this as a win for Ohio State.
2010 - Same.
2011 - This was the second year in a row that Penn State had to play in Columbus, and 3rd in the past 4 years. Penn State won, but maybe this is a good reason to make 2010 a win for Penn State.
2012 - Penn State got robbed by the referees. That touchdown by Miller had about 6 holdings not called. Win for Penn State. Plus, this year got on their ring of pretty good years.
2013 - I think I'll call this a win for Ohio State, but remember how the referees screwed Penn State. There was the crack-back block that wasn't called. Ohio State had it on 3rd down and after the play it was 4th down and had to punt. But if that had been called targeting, it would have been 3rd down again. And then there was the touchdown that they took off the board because the runner stepped out of bounds. They put it on the 1 and it should have been on the 2. Cheating referees. And I think Guiton scored a touchdown and took off his helmet. No flag thrown for that. But it's hard to excuse a 49-point loss.
2014 - Easy win for Penn State. The interception that set up Ohio State's first touchdown, and then the field goal 30 minutes after the playclock read :00. (Each time I hear them complain about that, they add more time to how long the playclock read 0. Soon it will be measured in days.) Take those 10 points off and it's a 17-7 win for Penn State.
2015 - Didn't they call back a long run by Barkley for holding? That's enough to negate a 38-10 win, right? Win for Penn State.
2016 - Penn State won, fair and square!!!
2017 - Referees tried to give it to Ohio State, but failed. Ohio State took it, anyway. Ohio State win.
2018 - I think there was a targeting call against Penn State. Bullshit. But Penn State gave it away. Ohio State win.
2019 - Nothing Penn State could bitch about. Ohio State won. "But we lost better than any one else Ohio State played!!!111!!!"
2020 - I still say the referees never should have allowed Penn State to kick that field goal right before half. Lame. But Ohio State won.
2021 - "THAT WASN'T A FUMBLE!!! HIS ARM WAS MOVING FORWARD!!!" and I think Stroud threw an incomplete pass that they picked up like a fumble and didn't get the touchdown. Win for Penn State.

So if the universe was fair, Penn State should have won in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2021. That's 8-8. Is that not a "new rule"?

I guess one of those blokes went to Auburn and he figured people would want to know what he thought of the trip.
I didn't click this stupid link, but here's his synopsis:
TLDR: Overall, a great experience and a place to visit for any college football fan. Great fans, awesome environment, beautiful campus, southern hospitality! It reminded us of State College.
Ha - "reminded us of State College". How's that? Did you get piss balloons thrown at you?

Auburn is a gross place. Some of the rudest MFers I have ever met and borderline college football retarded.
My experience with Auburn fans was in Nashville, which is where they all move after they graduate. Your assessment is dead on.

My only experience with any Auburn fans is my brother-in-law. Good guy. He grew up in Alabama, hates Alabama (the school, not the state), so he chose to be an Auburn fan. He didn't go to school at Auburn, though. Because of him I tend to root for Auburn over most other SEC teams.
I've never been to Auburn, and I'm not sure he has, either.

Yep. Part of the Paterno myth that they couldn't simply do something but, rather, had to do it for some incredibly noble reason.

They didn't duck Texas in the Cotton Bowl in 1969 to avoid an ass kicking, they did it because JoePa put the interest of his black players not having to play in the South above that of winning a NC. Of course, he chose to instead play a bowl game that season in...checks notes...Florida.

Not saying they didn't duck Texas, but where else were they going to play a bowl game? The Big Ten - Pac 8 Rose Bowl contract was in force and the rest of the games were in Dixie or Arizona which didn't recognize Martin Luther King Day. Come to think of it - as I watch my home state slowly become Ohiabama - how does California get off with such a goody two shoes rep? Cancelled out the property claims of Mexicans, hired Chinese to build their half of the continental railroad then refused them citizenship, gladly incarcerated all the Japanese in 42, took custody of their property and then refused to pay compensation when the war was over.

In a moment of appreciation for Joe and Penn State, they did manage to beat another asshole's wet dream team from Miami in 1987 and spare us the disaster of a Hurricane natty.

"southern hospitality!" Another Penn State White Out?

While stationed in Dixieland and being assured that Northern football was nothing compared to Southern football, I was taken to see the UNC - Vandy game by two of my fellow lieutenants, one from aTm and one from Auburn. We found a ma and pa diner in Chapel Hill for a pregame meal. Co -colas, fries, and cheeseburgers all around. The food arrives. Their burgers are thick and juicy, crisp green lettuce and a beautiful slice of tomato. Mine has had all the juice cooked out of it, the lettuce is less than fresh and the tomato is the butt slice. I look at my food, I look at theirs, I look at mine and then theirs again and then the aggy says, "Well, Forrest, looks to me like you got the Northern special."

ESPN Films tonight is showing a story about PSU serial sexual predator Tom Hodne. He was on Joe Pas 1978 team that played for a National Title. You can find information on the story on ESPNs website.

I think that came out a few months ago, and I remember reading (most of) some huge article about it. It's probably the one ScriptOhio linked. The cultists quickly made it sound like Joe Paterno did things the right way back then - trying to make the players testify against Hodne, and calling the one victim to see if she's okay. Maybe a couple of other examples that I forget now. But those two examples tell me the opposite story. First, what is the legality of telling someone how to testify? I mean, maybe it isn't illegal, but it's certainly immoral. Testify to what you think is the truth. Second, did he call all victims of sex abuse at Penn State? I forget the details, but she was startled and wondered how he got her name. It seems creepy, to me.

Bottom line is that this happens too much in the world, and maybe/probably more on college campuses. Happy Valley is no different from any other campus. The cult doesn't get that. They're as clean as a top-rated hospital surgical room. If you find something to complain about, as far as the campus goes, you must be a Pitt fan, or a Sparty fan, or a Rutgers fan, etc.
