A one-point loss in the Horseshoe when we were 7-point underdogs is nothing to be ashamed of
Yes, we could have—and maybe should have—won this game. But this was a great performance that will not tarnish our record by any significant degree. It may or may not keep us out off the CCG and the playoff. But, like our Rose Bowl loss, it proved that we have an elite team.
Proving they’re elite by losing games... nice.

This was our chance
We have everything lined up and are looking at a much better UM and OSU next year. We blew our chance. No moral victories here. We are UM last year
NOT MU 2016
From what we lose, we will be reloading, not rebuilding. This team is going to be in the upper echelon for the foreseeable future.
This is more like our OSU last year
We played very well, and we should torch our remaining opponents to go 11-1.
I just like how they console themselves by deciding which Michigan or Ohio State team/season they are the most comparable to... kinda says it all, doesn’t it?

Penn State football since joining the Big Ten in a nutshell.

Barrett is a bad passer
Why we elected to NOT pressure him is beyond me

This is where I’m at.
I can take a loss, no bigs. But to just let Barrett sit back there all day and play prevent is terrible.

Yes, Penn State chose to not get pressure, even when they blitzed.

I am done watching Penn State.
Let’s be real if we don’t get into the CFP which we won’t now. There is no point anymore. You know why no one believes in us? Because we always do this shit. We look promising and then drop a game. No excuse when we were up by 15. The football god’s gifted us a special team TD and a nice fumble. The refs were decent. Our defense simply let us down. We can never just get it done. The defense blows a 15 point lead. Looked very amateur and Trace over threw it how many times? And the oline sucks. Fuck this team Fuck all the high hopes because they never get it done. Fuck football. No use in getting worked upover a silly fucken game with pampered athletes chasing a ball. That’s what dogs do
1. Definitely not getting worked up about it.
2. Definition of “decent” refs going back to their independent days, I see. How many calls did they need to get for the refs to be good?

Didi u Seriously just say this is Nothing to be Ashamed of!?!?!?!? They blew an 18 pt 4th Qtr lead w/ a National Championship potentially on the line
This was BEYOND Shameful

It was Downright Cowardly

One team was an Alpha & one Team was a Beta & that includes the coaches

I’ll let u figure out who was who

Our schedule is weak sauce
There has to be a LOT of chaos for us to get a sniff.
The fun things you admit after a loss.

Our last two trips to the Horseshoe were both way worse.
I would take just about anything over 63-14.

This feels like the Rose Bowl. Yeah, we lost, but we played a game for the ages, and looked damn good in the process. If we get to the end of the season and this is our only loss, I will feel damn good about this team.

Also, Saquon probably won the Heisman tonight. So we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.
They start off seeming normal and reasonable, and then BAM! they hit you with the crazy.

Yes, I think the 21 for 44 night (with 20 carries for 8 yards and 1 carry for 36 yards) will put Barkley over the top in the Heisman race.

What a bunch of horse shit.
The only thing I hate more than OSU was our second-half play-calling. Very few blitzes on Barrett, and he picked us apart. Three straight runs after a turnover, leading to a blocked punt. Three straight runs inside the goal line, leading us to settle for a FG (seriously—not one throw to Gesicki??). Three straight runs when we need a first down to ice the game. Moorhead has done a lot for our program, and so has Pry. But they have some serious explaining to do for the return of Paternoball in the second half. Putrid.
I actually agree on the play calling questions. The scariest thing about Barkley was throwing to him out of the backfield and they didn’t do that at all. Fun stuff.

I feel like we would have passed more if our O line wasn't getting blown up.
And I think we tried to bring pressure but just couldn’t get there

We were getting smoked no matter what we did
When we did pass Trace couldn’t set his feet. Bates was the only guy on our line that could play with Ohio State.
People being reasonable is almost as fun as people being crazy.

In a lot of ways, this game felt like the first half of the Bama Sugar Bowl, with one team physically dominating, but the score not reflecting that for a variety of reasons (in this case, dysfunctional kickoff, unfortunate turnover, and game altering bad calls from the refs).

What is all this assumption that OSU has "better talent"?
At one point, some idiot from OSU dropped a pass and Joel Klatt said, "OSU has so much talent but they make mistakes blah blah"

I turned to my Dad and said, "Isn’t it a sign of a lack of talent if you make mistakes?"

You may have "athleticism" or [Gus Johnson voice] "WILL POWER" but none of that matters if you can’t combine it all together.

The only unit from OSU that looked truly better in comparison to PSU was their defensive line. Everything else approached some kind of parity. Also Mike Gesicki makes their tight end look like a schlub.

Scoreboard... coincidentally, thanks to a TD catch by our TE. Situational awareness is truly lost on some people.

Are you serious???
I didn’t think the Rose bowl was going to haunt me, but I guess Franklin wanted it to.
No excuses. You wanna lose the game??? Run four times on a 1st and 10 after a turnover. This is shit. Real shit. Unbelievable. I want to die.
Seriously though, someone justify that play calling. Because I think we just blew our only chance at winning a natty this decade.
It’s funny that almost all of their bitching centers on how stupid it was to hand the ball to their Heisman favorite, best player in college football, best talent in a generation running back.

Shall we review some of the hype heading into the game on whether your OC should hand the ball off to Barkley or not?

Granted, they probably could have tried to get Barkley involved in the passing game more, as I noted earlier, but when you are being physically dominated by the other team it is understandable when the OC gets put in a corner.

Maybe with that lose Barkley comes back next year
They look to bring it back next year with a top offense.

Interestingly, out of hundreds of comments I reviewed, very little comments about the refs... like, no mention of them good or bad outside of the “they were decent” quote I found.

Very strange.

From 86s link:

Ok,yeah, he had that opening kick return for a score. But, I wasn't particularly WOWed by his 20 carries for 8 yards after her 1 carry for 36 and his empty 4 receptions for 23 yards (long of 10)

Edit: LOL. I grabbed that quote and posted the above, only to return to 86s post and see he said the exact same thing. Myabe 86 is one of my alternate IDs. :slappy:

i 100% agree with you on the bama "feel" of the game with the exception of the kickoff team. props to the lions for taking advantage of tOSU mistakes and super questionable officiating. but the entire game i felt like if we could just cut out the mental mistakes everything would just fall into place. i thought we outplayed them all game.

Yes, Penn State chose to not get pressure, even when they blitzed.

yeah, our oline had no impact. pressuring the qb or not is purely a game plan type decision. cuz, as im sure you know, there are so many reasons you wouldn't want to pressure the qb. :p

i "want" to disagree here, but i can't just yet. just started my second viewing of the game. my feel during the game was that we were taking that away with our alignment and some damn good d coverage. my too early to be trusted thinking is they abandoned the broccoli pass game for the same reason they "chose" to not rush jt. but thats definitely pending.

Lmao: Found this gem in BWI:

You pedos winning 1 game in the last 8 years does not make it a rivalry.

in fairness to the pedos....

2004 Columbus Ohio State 37–21
2005 Ann Arbor Ohio State (#9) 25–21
2006 Columbus Ohio State (#1) 42–39
2007 Ann Arbor Ohio State (#7) 14–3
2008 Columbus Ohio State (#10) 42–7
2009 Ann Arbor Ohio State (#9) 21–10
2010[1] Columbus Ohio State (#12) 37–7

2011 Ann Arbor(<--whore) Michigan (#15) 40–34
2012 Columbus Ohio State (#4) 26–21
2013 Ann Arbor Ohio State (#3) 42–41
2014 Columbus Ohio State (#6) 42–28
2015 Ann Arbor Ohio State (#8) 42–13
2016 Columbus Ohio State (#2) 30–27 2OT

Barrett had 95 rush yards.
Barkley and McSorely COMBINED had 93 rush yards. With twice as many attempts. (Barrett had 17 attempts, Barkley had 21, and McSorely had 13 attempts.)

yeah, but broccoli and mcswirley put up those numbers against the tOSU d. jt was only dealing with the penn state d so....

I agree and was going to say something similar. Barkley was the biggest threat and we absolutely shut him down... you have to think shutting him down in the passing game had something to do with the silver bullets, as well.

To reinforce what I already said, it’s funny that Penn State fans are bitching about handing it off to their best player... who did that “stop, go back a few yards, spin and fall down” move at least 4-5 times throughout the game, which makes me smile.

“Ohio State crushed by far our biggest strength into oblivion; it’s the coaches fault for not doing something totally random that the defense who was crushing us wouldn’t crush!”

They had short fields, special team plays, deep jump balls and some poor officiating to make up for being out manned across the board these past two years.

They needed a lot of luck to stay close and for the most part they got it. Their fans just can't bring themselves to understand that so they are mystified or pissed at the coaches for "not thinking of something".

Typical Penn State really

They cant seriously think that KO return was some sort of heisman moment? That was one of the easiest KO return TDs youll ever see. The only one ever close to him was the kicker. Any marginally fast PSU skill player easily takes that to the house as well.

as their 250LB LB/up man showed later in the game

I think they've been broken and their delusional mutancy will soon take some bizarre new direction that has not yet revealed itself.

Just my .02
It's kind of frustrating me that they think the 1 point MOV meant they are just 1 point worse than us. You fuckers were gifted like 20 points through no fault of your own. Your luck finally ran out and the superior team finally showed up after taking the 4th Q last year off and the first 3 of this one. You should be talking about how lucky you were to even be within a point.....not that you're almost as good as Ohio State and on the rise.
