Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/will-history-repeat-itself-vs-osu.150055/

Who had "11 days early" in the "when will Penn State fans start whining about the refs" pool?
Well you don't win the money - it actually started months ago. But the thread is pretty good, anyway.

ChiTownLion brings up the overall penalties stats, just to say that it's a set-up for some make-up calls in favor of Ohio State.
Then other people bring in the "those stats are worthless" arguments. See, penalties don't count when they don't impact the game. But when holding is called on a touchdown run, negating the touchdown, the Big Ten refs are corrupt. Get it?
The only surprise in that thread is there was no mention of the bounce pass. All the other usual whines are there.

Yes. Refs get paid weekly in advance. Delany and other B1G honchos get an annual stipend.

We don't discuss the third thing we do to keep them down. If they figured that one out they'd probably just up and leave the B1G for the ACC or something. So shhhh on the third thing.

It goes deeper than just the B1G I believe the Illuminati and Skull and Bones society are also deeply involved with the derailment of Penn State Football.

The "3rd thing" is currently under the auspices of the MACUSA, so you can talk about the Illuminati thing all you want.

But forget about all that for now. We have a problem. It's my week to deliver the payment (Jax, your share is late again), and DeepTaco isn't answering The Phone so I don't have a 10-20 on the drop zone yet. I remember this happened when it was Deety's week last year and the game was in OT before the check cleared. Any ideas?

The cult is already breaking g out the speeracy nonsense two weeks before the game is even played.

No mention though of how they have a bye week while we play @Wiscy.
Just for the record, in the 2014 game Ohio State had 8 penalties for 70 yards, while the perpetual victims of Penn State had 4 penalties for 42 yards.

And I love how The Cult keeps relaying on the Vonn Bell "interception" as evidence of conspiracy. Here's an actual analogy from baseball: Earlier this season, Mike Napoli has a 3-0 count with two men on base. The next pitch is clearly ball four, but the umpire calls "strike". Napoli gives the ump a WTF look then crushes the 3-1 pitch about 450 feet for a three-run homer. Napoli should've walked, which would've been good. He actually cranked out a three-run homer, which was far better. Napoli got screwed, but so what?

The same thing could've happened at Penn State. The interception call could've been overturned and the next play could've been a pick six. Or a fumble. Or Ohio State could've forced a punt and Jalin Marshall could've returned it 75 yards for a touchdown. Maybe the blown call was a better result for Penn State - at least they had a chance to stop Ohio State from 39 yards out, which they failed to do. You just never know. It was a play in the first quarter of the game, and it was not a deciding factor.

You can never complain about officiating unless you definitively know what would've happened after the blown call. And you can only do that maybe 0.01% of the time.

Here's a New York Times article on the infamous "fifth down" play which occurred in Colorado's win over Missouri in 1990:

It has been made to appear that Missouri alone was the victim of the official's error and should be awarded the victory. Colorado was victimized into grounding a pass to conserve time because they had been led to believe it was third down - by the down marker, the officials or both. It is possible the Buffaloes could have scored on the actual fourth down if they had run or passed the ball instead of spiking it. After all, they did score when they had the opportunity to put the ball in play from the same spot on the next play.
