These idiots are too stupid to realize that as long they let this stuff cause them to give visceral (or otherwise) reaction, they'll continue to get made fun of, debated, laughed at, etc.

In all honesty, I'm gonna make fun of and laugh at 'em long after that stops. I'm not gonna debate 'em though - don't wanna ruin anyone's weekend.
Nothing posted, yet. But here's a guy who isn't smelling what the Rock is cookin'. (He smells something else.)
Of course, he quickly gets slapped down for even suggesting someone would make this up.
It's all a big circle jerk of who had the worst experience when, in reality, I don't believe most of the negative interactions they spout off about took place.I like how they put ridiculous things in the "responses from the crowd" to make it seem like the rest of the world is that out of touch with what happened. Nobody actually thinks Paterno raped anybody, but every one of these stories has a "somebody even told me Paterno deserved to be fired because he raped those boys" comment in them.
Indy AND Ohio. That's the REAL problem. I have traveled to many of the "21st" Century locations in the country and wear PSU stuff all the time. I have been met with smiles, thumbs up and the occasional NCAA really screwed you guys. To be sure I am mostly with people NOT from the South or MidWest. Try to stay in areas were reading and writing are a big deal :)
I think my favorite type of BWI thread is when some Cultist leaves the hive and discovers what the rest of the country thinks about them and the notion that they are the real victims. In the linked thread, the OP ventures to Indianapolis for a seminar and one of the speakers cited PSU as an example of a University cover-up. The result is predictably hilarious, with the OP even getting confronted by facts from other attendees and having to control his rage. LOL.
I've said this before --- but as a PSU fan who lives in Metro Cincinnati (e.g., Ohio), and has attended 20+ ROAD games since November 2011, I've only once encountered a nasty opposing fan. That was at the Wisconsin 2013 game: PSU scored a touchdown, I stood up to cheer (I prefer to sit amongst opposing fans as opposed to sitting amongst my own), a Badger fan turned around and told me "a child-rapist who needs to shut the **** up." I just ignored him, no use engaging. To their credit, his fellow Badger fans told HIM to shut up and stop acting like an idiot.
Point being, I don't believe those BWI threads about "Penn State folk being hated." 99% of people who I have face-to-face contact with don't view me via the lens of the Sandusky incident. Per my experience, a vast majority of folk don't view my school in the lens of that incident, either.
All message boards, BWI, buckeyeplanet, wherever --- folk will say a lot of crap, be it lies or just vile stuff, that they would never say in public or face-to-face.
That was a good post. I can respect the fans that are there to have a good time and cheer on their school. I know that the rational, sane members of the PSU fanbase constantly get ridiculed on BWI as ball washers for the Board of Trustees. But as long as the Joebots are so vocal about Joe being a martyr victimized by the Board of Trustees and that the entire world was against PSU for no reason, the perception among the rest of the country is never going to change or improve.
Public perception regarding Paterno is a lost cause. It's never coming back, but the school's reputation can continue to recover. By still making everything all about Paterno four years later, it plays right into the Emmert and Freeh claim that the culture was/is completely out of whack. If there was no reaction (or mimimal reaction) from the fanbase, things like the pedophile parking sign at Rutgers two years ago would no longer happen. But opposing fanbases know how easy it is to get PSU grads and fans to overreact and play the victim card.
That is why I asked you in the past how representative you thought BWI and the crazy Joebots in general were of the PSU fanbase. For all the rage and anger BWI claims still exists among the alumni, the BoT elections still attract less than 10 percent of the eligible voters.
I think people from the Midwest are, in general, too polite by nature to openly express their hate or disdain for someone to their face.I don't think anybody in the B1G (in large numbers) really "hates" Penn State. That's part of the reason I've had no real issues. Certainly none of the traditional B1G members or Nebraska hate Penn State. No issues there.
The Rutgers game in 2014 --- I was there, Rutgers fans weren't really "hating" as much as they were "trolling." I get it. It's a Jersey thing, it's what they do. :-)
Maryland football fans don't hate Penn State in large numbers because, well, Maryland football fans don't really exist. Maryland sold their home game against PSU in 2015 to the Baltimore Ravens stadium, all for the sake of $$$. So it was a majority PSU crowd for a game that was close and down to the wire, e.g., where the extra fan support could have helped Maryland. Come on Maryland, stop acting so minor league ..........
Anyway, I mention all that because next year's PSU/Pittsburgh game --- if there is to be an incident, it will be at that game. There IS true hatred among portions of those fanbases. I'm still on the fence about attending that game.

I hate Penn State. With a passion. And it has nothing to do with JoePed ignoring child rape in his locker room....
but that doesn't help
