Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I worry that the weasels are going to want it more

John Cooper doesn't coach here anymore, so don't worry about that.

Also, think of it this way; PSU knocks off scUM, OSU handles Sparty and wraps up B1G East. Now the pressure is off and our boys just get to go have fun and beat scUM's ass. They can play looser that way.

No way to know for sure but I don't want scUM fans to even be able to say Harbaugh played for a B1G E division title this year. Fuck them.

I like michnittlion. Of course, my troll account on BWI can never "like" anything he says, but that's because I want them to think my troll is another cultist.

Just don't "like" the post in this thread! I honestly was making a little joke.

You can tell it definitely hit pretty hard to the truth, though --- the vitriol in the responses is rather extreme (orders of magnitude higher than usual).

I saw that thread. You definitely hit a nerve (and the truth) there. Using the same logic the "Cult" uses with regard to the e-mails, however, how do we even know that the "Joe" is question was even Paterno? I mean, Joe is such a common name that the geriatric in the picture could have been referring to any number of Joes.

We "62 year old Paterno Loyalists" and Joe helped build and fill a 107,000 seat stadium that sits in the middle of the mountains in the middle of nowhere.
Sounds like the perfect place to set up shop serial molesting little kids without being detected... as long as the guy who helped build it is cool with turning a blind eye.
I'm quite a bit younger than that, and I am proud to be a "Paterno Loyalist" since the Paternos (Joe and the rest of the family) have earned my loyalty.
What exactly has the family done to earn loyalty again?
I actually feel sad for you going through life this way.
He's right, life can be a pretty tough place.

It would be a lot easier if we could just join a cult where all the answers and all our self worth flowed from a singular mythological human.

That'd be great as long as that human didn't turn out to be a fraud capable of enabling one of the most heinous crimes known to man for the sake of their reputation for a disgustingly long period of time.

how was that offensive at all? especially with the number of people who replied saying they were old.

christ....you don't even have to say something negative about Joesus....it's just that you're not saying something glorifying him that gets you in trouble.

For many of these folks it had moved past cult membership to full blown mental illness. I guess that happens when your entire life revolves around a fraudulent myth, and then the curtain is pulled back for all to see. You can either accept it and move on, or spiral into the depths of paranoia, denial and madness.

http://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/the-narrative-is-indeed-finally-changing.59720/

So one dude goes into a bar and finds a couple of people who think Joesus did "the right thing". YAY!!! We're winning the war! Then he states that these are people who are Pac-12 fans. So... what that tells me is that they haven't really been following anything with Penn State. So... who cares what they think? But this guy takes it as a move in the positive direction. (Personally, I find it a little creepy that some guy is walking around in bars in Arizona looking to talk about Joe to anyone who would listen.)

But then we get to this post:
It's sports, and it really comes down to whether you like PSU and/or Joe, or not. If you did, the narrative didn't fit and you did your own research. If you were jealous of the way PSU ran things and the success Joe had, then the newspaper headlines justified your negatives feeling about PSU/Joe.

I see his point, and agree in general, but not specifically in this case. I always liked Joe Paterno, until November 2011. I didn't go out and research what kind of guy he was; if I had, I might have thought differently. But I liked what I knew about him: his players had high graduation rates, he spoke openly with the media, and in late 2010, when Ohio State was going through tat-gate, Joe Paterno said something like, "I hope no one goes snooping around here - who knows what they'll find?" Of course, he may or may not have been talking about Jerry and all of his activities. But he seemed OK. But then I heard what I've heard, and it still angers me that someone could just say, "I've told my boss, I'm out of this. What's for dinner?" And a couple of weeks later, he sees Jerry Sandusky walking around, and I can see he can't ask Jerry about the issues, but can't he go to his boss (the guy he told) and say, "Hey... was that ever investigated? Was it found that McQueary was just a lying sack of shit? What am I supposed to do about this?" None of that. Just, "Hi Jerry. How's the Second Mile going?" Blarg!!! And no, I'm not jealous of any success he had.

I love how his theory makes room for only 2 options: You either accept the truth and love Paterno, or your biases force you into thinking he wasn't what they believe. It can't be that their biases make them believe he did everything right and never harmed a fly....it's the biases of the people who are jealous of the whopping 2 NCs the guy won. Because Average College Football Fan really gives a shit if the team is doing things "the right way".........which of course they weren't even fucking doing, but whatever.

The lack of recognition by these people is astounding. They'll shout from the mountain tops that people are biased and letting their personal feelings cloud what they believe actually happened...but they don't understand that THEY'RE the ones who are biased and full of shit. Nope. It's everybody else. All of us are out to get Paterno because we wish our coaches could win as much while being a saint. You guys figured it out. We tried to pull the wool over your eyes, but you're just too shrewd.

That thread is awesome. I think my favorite form of BWI bullshit is whenever a Cult member will have some supposed interaction with a random in a bar thousands of miles away from PA and the random will of course agree that Joesus got shafted. The original post in that thread is just gold: Yes, everyone agreed that Joesus was a martyr and in no way did anything wrong,.

"Everyone now agreed that it's more commonly accepted now, that Joe did not know anything, did his part as far as what he even knew to do, and the nation engaged in a witch hunt afterward."

I can't wait for the Cult to start its guerilla marketing plan of TRUTH and FAX and Ray Blehar's blog.

NittanyNed2: "IMO, we need to start an aggressive guerilla marketing campaign of what we all collectively know by reaching out to friends family, acquaintances, and even media. Invite them to the board, point out Ray's blog, etc."

I was going to post pretty much the same thing. The real two options scenario is...

1. You are repulsed by the (lack of) action by Joe Paterno & the administration in protecting children.
2. You would sell your child to Sandusky if it meant a win over Ohio State.

I think a good portion of the BWI cult would help Jerry hold the kid down if it meant exonerating Joesus.

Seriously
