Not so much stupid as completely unhinged and driven to madness and delusion by their inability to come to grips with their mediocrity. It's half manifested in the petty jealousy and hatred. The other half is the desperate need to believe that the only way anyone else wins is by being cheaters with illiterate players and corrupt refs.

My fondest hope for Penn State is that they fall to such a level of consistent mediocrity that their fans just quit, like Illinois.

Already, they lack the courage to venture outside of their rapidly shrinking bubble. Eventually they'll be left with one deranged poster like Tha Kid to use as the punching bag for all of the frustration of the remaining ten fans.

They'll then find an obscure Olympic sport of some kind to fall back on and bemoan the fact that BTN won't televise it because the conference hates Penn State.

I know that you are being sarcastic but here is an interesting point that you may want to consider. Last year, the NCAA put out a rule on how to handle a situation such as an employee seeing or hearing something inappropriate. The rules followed EXACTLY what Joe Paterno did after meeting with the observer of the situation. The NCAA instructs that the observer speak to his manager and the manager take that information to his senior management and then involve the legal team. The rules do not say that the manager should go to the police.

Many can argue that the rules should be changed and someone should go to the police but that is not what the rules are today or then. Ironic but true.

So PSU was the example of how to handle the situation this whole time! They didn't know to go to the police because the rules didn't say to. It wasn't totally obvious to anyone in delusional cult land to go to the police, so they went to the rule book on the proper procedure on what to do when a grown man is fucking little boys. The problem was handled perfectly! The rules may need changed so people may go to the police when a heinous crime occurs next time though...

I actually searched for anything resembling what they're claiming after I first saw them make the claim. I went through the NCAA rule book and saw jack shit that was even close to what they claim. It's just another thing that the dumbasses made up to try to exonerate Paterno.

You're correct about trying to be over-the-top, and I think I made it "over" the top, but not by much.
2002 - I haven't seen that complaint on BWI. I just remember the complaints the following week.
2003 - They are STILL butt-hurt about that. I had forgotten about it, but they reminded me. I guess it was a close play that "everyone in the stadium saw the ball hit the ground, except the referees."
2004 - They sucked. They don't complain about that game. I had to make something up.
2005 - They love bringing up that game, showing that Penn State is awesome. Of course, 2005 is all about the 2 seconds Michigan got.
2006 - I'm pretty sure they believe Ohio State photoshopped the evidence.
2007 - No complaints, but probably Ohio State is all thugs.
2008 - More evidence of Penn State's dominance.
2009-2010 - Not a peep from them
2011 - I forgot that they won that game. Oh well. Ohio State probably cheated, anyway.
2012 - They definitely still whine about a few calls or non-calls by referees. I guess there was a "roughing the center" called against Penn State that gave Ohio State a first down on a fourth down, and we turned it into a touchdown. Of course, any time Miller ran the ball should have been holding.
2013 - For a while after the game (not so much since) they complained about that blind-side block that should have been called. The game was close at the time (it was in the first quarter), and had that been called, who knows what happens? Maybe Ohio State punts and Penn State scores and it's a whole different ball game. Yeah, right.
2014 - We all know about that one.

So 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2014. They think they should have won those 7 games. They should be 7-6. Instead, they're 3-10. Maybe 85% is pretty close.
