Penn State at tOSU, Sat. 10/21, 12pm EST, FOX

I hope the team is more focused than I am, because it's officially my hate week, and all I can think about is Michigan forfeiting wins.
So you're saying 13 hours before kickoff, you're scheming for ways to improve Penn State's record. noted.

scratch that... I forgot that forfeits are still counted as losses.

Maybe this is some next level stuff, and you don't realize it.

Both records get worse!

I have put my money where my mouth is and bet $20 (HEY BIG SPENDER) on the Buckeyes laying 4.5
I think Allar hasn't really had to play in a hostile environment, he's still a young QB, Penn State (who has good RB's) won't be able to do enough on the ground to give him time and he'll see a lot of 3rd and 6 yards to go. Furthermore, I'm not certain this particular version of PSU is built to come back from a significant deficit. I like Ohio State by 9 in this game.
I also give the edge to the coaching staff in this game. I don't find Penn State particularly threatening outside of a "White Out" scenario at Happy Valley.

FWIW - I like PSU to hop back on the national stage at beat Michigan at home in November

We need the win for our “mental health”. If PSU wins I don’t see any way to win at scUM. We need to win so Day McCord and Knowles believe in the team. Lose we will be way to conservative when we play scUM. JT coached that game aggressively Day and Knowles do the opposite.Aggressively does not mean reckless or stupidly.

Second point. Someone in the OSU Athletic department needs to be raising a stink about the fact that this game isn't at night.

Yeah Yeah Yeah - BIG NOON ON FOX, I get it.
However, for all the times you guys have had to go into Happy Valley for a night game, you should be able to have a night game against them too. What's fair is fair.

There's literally no way for this game to be anything other than a noon game this year and it's far too big of a match-up to be on FS1.

But can they cover like ND? I think not.

Saw PFF had Kiser as a top 3 LB and that’s along with their corners who are better than Penn States.

That’s great that Penn State is going to blitz but will their back end hold up?

Because all I know is Marvin had his way with King last year and I got my money on Marvin being the more improved between those two.

I stand by that ND will prove to be the better defense.
I would be inclined to say ND has better coverage and overall defense. The top 4 pass defenses in CFB go (in order) PSU, *ichigan, ND and then OSU. But I would say ND is the #1 pass defense considering they have faced Ohio State, USC, Duke, NC State and Louisville. Meanwhile PSU's best passing offense they have faced is WVU...the others are Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern and UMass...pretty freaking weak. That said, Dixon and King are good corners...good enough to cover MH Jr, Egbuka, Fleming, etc.? I don't think so, but they are capable of slowing us down.

On the blitz, PSU does a good job of disguising where it is coming from, meaning it might not be obvious to McCord at the line to determine where to get the ball in the vacated area. Might sound obvious, but we will either torch them by hitting quick throws where the blitz came from, or McCord will go down for several sacks. What I would love to see is RB screens that develop behind the blitz with Henderson and Hayden...we haven't done it all year, but it is easy to install.

Overall, I do think ND has a very slightly better defense but PSU plays a totally different style of defense that I hope our offensive front and McCord are ready for. I say all this and maybe we will just slice them to pieces at home, I just don't expect that...I expect a close and physical game that will likely have us stressing out for most of it.

I am pissed it is not a night game, it absolutely should be. But then again, I believe last year it was a noon game in Crappy Valley (it wasn't at night, I know that), so I can stomach no double standards for '22 and '23. But in the future, this needs to be a night game unless either team is absolutely irrelevant.

isn't this the week you can't speak to anyone in your family?
oh no....nobody in my family would piss on a penn state fan if they were on fire. the wife's parents met each other at a Penn St branch campus and both hate em as much as 2 older folks who don't really care about sports can hate a shitbag program.
