Penn State at tOSU, Sat. 10/21, 12pm EST, FOX

I would agree McCord is not CJ, who I see him as being more similar too. Skill players, yep pretty similar. However, this line is nowhere close to what CJ had.
That would be mitigated, I think, if McCord were to run more when nobody is open. Such as on the 3rd and 3 in the red zone in the second half today. If he takes off toward the line of scrimmage, either someone will get open by the time he gets there because a defender in coverage has to move up to stop him or he gets the 3 yards for the first down.

I think it goes deeper than that. I looked at the 2024 recruits on 247 and there are only a few oline recruits that are ranked as a 4* or higher. All of our 2024 oline recruits are in the 3* range. I think it's scheme and development.

Just sayin':

1. Other schools have NIL opportunities specifically for offensive linemen that I don't think Ohio State has.

Nonprofit to offer Texas offensive linemen $50,000 annually

Every Texas Longhorns offensive lineman on scholarship will get $50,000 annually for use of their name, image and likeness to support charitable causes, a new nonprofit entity announced Monday.

Horns with Heart said “The Pancake Factory” would start in August 2022. The organization said it hopes to expand the program to other football position groups and Longhorns athletes in the future. The name comes from the “pancake” blocks linemen sometimes do during play.

The Horns With Heart announcement said it was founded by six Texas alumni and supporters ”with experience across multiple industries and disciplines to make a positive impact on local communities,” but did not say who they are. Horns With Heart did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.

The effort is capped at $800,000 annually, which would cover 16 scholarship linemen.

Texas Longhorns offensive line strikes NIL deal with nonalcoholic beer company

It started with The Pancake Factory, and now the Texas Longhorns offensive line is part of another NIL deal.

Athletic Brewing, makers of nonalcoholic beer and sparkling hop water, and the Longhorns offensive line have formed a partnership and will formally introduce it Aug. 19 at the Hancock Center H-E-B, located at 1000 E. 41st St.

DJ Campbell, Cameron Williams, Hayden Conner, Neto Zulu, Kelvin Banks Jr., Cole Hutson, Christian Jones and Jake Majors will all be on hand to sign autographs and host a nonalcoholic beer sampling at the grocery store from 1-3 p.m.

The new NIL deal for the linemen comes after the landmark NIL partnership started by Horns With Heart, now part of the Texas One Fund. The Pancake Factory initiative pays participating offensive linemen $50,000 for contributing to various charitable activities.

2. You have to wonder exactly what Ohio State's NIL budget is for football players.

Ryan Day says Ohio State needs $13 million in NIL deals to maintain roster

Ohio State football coach Ryan Day wants to keep his roster intact. In the world of lucrative NIL deals, that means having enough money in the coffers to be able to afford top-tier talent.

In a meeting with about 100 members of Columbus' football community Thursday, Day named his price: $13 million.
.
.
.
Day estimated that Ohio State would need about $2 million to convince top-shelf quarterback recruits to take their talents to Columbus. Per Day, elite pass rushers and offensive lineman are pricey, too, worth about $1 million.

watching all the post game stuff, from blithering state penn reporters ("this ohio state team was so TOTALLY beatable... sigh groan whimper"), jimmy eff's postgame press conference (taking the question about why he's still the head coach telling the reporter that it's "a fair question", but, basically to f*** off), to drew aller confusing bawling with balling, and and and...

totally not elite.

it feels like a program-breaking loss in my IMHO.

I went back and read all of your posts around the time of the failed 3rd and 4th downs. You posted nothing out of line. I do not know why you felt like you needed to defend yourself. I apologize for lumping you in with those other "fans".
Let me get all of this straight.

You defended the reasonableness of Franklin’s response to a question about the holding call.

You ‘feel bad’ for the Pedster QB.

You used the words ‘I apologize’.

Who the fuck are you and what have you done with BN27?!?!?!!

I just have to ask if James Franklin got a free bowl of soup with that hat. Not a good look.
