Penn State 31, Notre Dame 10 (final)

Minus 7 yards rushing on the year for NoD.

Offensive Genius.... has gained a total of 268 yards this year. All thru the air, since they have -7 rushing. 134 per game for this brilliant mind... :slappy:

Granted, the season is only two games old.. but... dammit, this is just funny.

Well, at least they get Michigan next week. They'll probably be able to get out of the negative rushing... hell, they may even top 200 yards against that miserable bunch.

1st throw: no touch. Catchable... if your name is Anthony Gonzalez and/or you play in the NFL.
2nd throw: too high.
Not the jump ball to the corner to Kamara, the two plays after. On both plays the receiver had his hands on the ball, no deflection. If you get your hands on it, its your responsibility to haul it in, save the deflection. The offense really is horrible all over though, so its irrelevant. They need to get some running game going, then the passing game will open up. The lack of running game is hurting, I think the offensive line is the biggest problem right now. Theres no holes, and Clausen was runnin' to make plays.

I know, 1st was right over the middle, 2nd was roll out. If you can catch balls with your fingertips... feel free to criticize. They would've been great throws if an inch or two lower and were catchable to some degree, just a pretty hard degree in my opinion.
It always surprises me how quick NoD fans are to throw the rest of their team under the bus just to prop their QB up on a pedestal.

guys, we're living in a special time.

Not just special, historical and hysterical. This has been the best start to the college football season in my 43 years of life.

Ulukinatme, it seems that your post that follows, bemoaning how horrible the offense is and that the offensive line is the biggest problem, should be a moot point in year 3 of the offensive genius' system. I think bkb nicely summarized in the prior post what the definition of offensive genius is.

He's the only player on that offense I'd like on OSU's roster.

I agree he shows a ton of potential, and it took brass balls to make those throws, and they were placed very well.
But I wouldn't want what I see as somewhat of a headcase. IMO, he really doesn't fit the team philosophy at Ohio State. And he doesn't really fit in the timing either ... would I rather have a shot at getting Pryor or Clausen? I'd take the shot at Pryor myself.

Eh, one of the receivers was another true freshman, Duval Kamara. On the first pass I'm pretty sure he got more than fingertips, looked more like a bobble. Either way, Clausen did a decent job avoiding pressure. There were some blindside sacks, protection wasn't looking too hot though. I'm kinda disappointed in Sam Young's performance, he was a force last year, tonight he was getting manhandled. The running game is gonna have to come to Ann Arbor if they hope to have any chance of scoring on scUM

Smith was a bit of a headache early in his career as well. If Clausen can't be broken (in to the team philosophy), then he'll ride the bench and/or transfer.

I'm not fond of jeopardizing Pryor's recruitment, but I think Clausen is a safer bet to develop into an elite QB. Apples and oranges really. That would be one tough choice to make.

Troy was an entirely different kind of headcase. Not that one is better than the other. But I just look at it, and see how Pryor could fit in perfectly to Ohio State. Not to mention would Tressel RS Clausen or throw him into the QB battle with Henton and Shoenhoft and Boeckman? That would just make it even more of a clusterfk if you ask me. Plus I'm holding out to see Henton do some stuff in the future. We'll probably never have another Troy -- but I think athletic QBs are the way CFB is going.

I was perfectly fine that the staff didn't seem too interested in chasing QBs last year.

Starting all those green players is showing the lack of talent Willingham brought in his recruiting classes.
Uhh, Weis got ND to the fiesta bowl with mostly if not allTy Willingham players.

God, it must suck to be a ND fan right now, having to make a diffrent excuse each week.

Since the buckeyes have so many freshman playing, does that mean we haven't been recruiting well? Take a glance at our record the last 5 years, all signs point to no.

As ugly as the team is right now, the defense is probably the best thing going, which is strange to say. They kept the team in the game, scored the only TD, until about the late 3rd/4th quarter. When your offense is going 3 and out every series, your defense is gonna be on the field a lot. At that point, Penn State was able to run the ball at will. Time of possession for Penn State was 33:44 to 26:16, with probably 1/4 of the 26:16 from the punt formation, heh heh
