Penn St. 13, tOSU 6 (Final)

pulled this gem off the comments section of black shoes when talking about opening the playbook. i wish paterno was this stupid too.

I doubt tOSU has held back
They played USC and went down to the wire with Wiscy. You?d suspect that they used their best plays in those games to try to stay competitive.

point is, vegas doesn't buy into media hype... you don't make the big bucks if you just listen to media hype

Ditto. I think that is the point that Mili made.

Ohio State is better than positioned in the press. I watched some of Penn State - TSUN. I think we can run the ball against them.

I'll tell you one thing, I've picked against the Bucks in almost every game this year. I'm no homer. With that said, I've never been so sure of an impending beat down as I am right now. Michigan exposed some serious holes in that defense, and we have much better athletes than they do. In addition, Clark hasn't been tested yet. Add to that the fact that the game is at home. Everything is pointing to a big win by the Bucks. Anyone care to argue against me? I'd like to hear it.

You were singing a different tune two weeks ago.

Royster is good, but so was Ringer. How good is the PSU o-line? also, does Royster run up the gut or does he like to run outside? if PSU has a good line, and Royster likes to hit the middle, that could be an issue. If he likes to run outside though, that doesn't worry me.

He hits the middle hard and fast, which then opens up the end-around (ala Gilreath for Wisconsin) to Williams. They may not run the end around all that often, but they fake it frequently and that threat keeps the middle even more open for Royster. A lot of misdirection and a very versatile attack. OSU will have to be very disciplined to slow it down. Stephfon Green is also a good back, although not as good an inside runner as Royster. Perhaps speedier and shiftier, but not as quick to the hole.

In addition, the receiving corp is a tough matchup because all three of Williams, Norwood, and Butler are the small, quick types that a linebacker absolutely will not be able to stay with, which makes the running game that much more effective when the D is in the nickel defense all night. I'm not sure OSU's safeties can stay with these guys, either. I wouldn't mind seeing Chekwa, Washington, and Jenkins on the field together a lot during the game.

Throw in a QB with enough mobility in and out of the pocket to be a nuisance plus very good special teams and there just aren't many weaknesses on this team.

I'm not sure what to make of their defense. It seems that, much like the '06 (and '07 to and extent) OSU defense, the offense is so efficient that it puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the opponent's offense to make every play and that leads to poor execution and decisions.

Hopefully, OSU can flip that and force PSU's offense to overplay and commit mistakes, because I'm not sure OSU has the mental toughness at this point to fall behind without panicking.

My pessimistic view has me expecting a game similar to last year's PSU game, but with the roles reversed.
