They shouldn’t have been let on the plane home from Miami or at very least not started the fall but I’ve been around and around in that one with people before.
I don't think that would've been fair at the time. The Covid year screwed everything up; it was hard to tell what was real and what wasn't. You had Indiana and Texas A&M looking good which says it all. Plus we had a bunch of DL out for that Bama game (not to mention that Bama offense was completely loaded, easily one of the best of this century) and it was Grinch who fucked us on the secondary depth not Coombs. They deserved a normal year to show what they were capable of. They failed and Day made the right move.

Parker on the other hand has had plenty of time and no more excuses to show what he brings to the table

Coombs was the same guy in meetings, practice, spring football and fall camp that he was when he walked off the field of the Orange Bowl.

Day didn't need to wait until it cost him a game to fire the guy. He knew. He was just too late on the trigger. Same as Stud. Same as this guy.

the only thing I'll note is that Parker has been Day's GA since day one.... Studs, Coombs (even though it was a rehire) were not "his guys" per say... Day talks a lot of about promoting guys who "put in the time" so there might be some nepotism here...
