Paris, Dawand and the Frye era

ShowMeBuck

You know what? Chicken butt.
The 2023 NFL draft will be a watershed moment for tOSU program and the Frye era. Everyone wants to get to the league and seeing how these guys do will be massively important.

These guys are almost a lock to be in the draft and the best case scenario would be for them to both be taken in the first 2 rounds. Fair or not, Frye jumps right into a make it or break it situation. He only has one year to work with these guys, yet the perception of the program for developing OL guys for the league will hinge on it. The thing nobody is talking about is how huge it is that we have kept Kevin Wilson on board to help out. Thank goodness we weren’t trying to replace him this year as well.

Though I agree, I think what will be bigger for Frye, is how he deals with all of the project OL that Stud signed on the roster. And also how he develops the younger OL. Frye has a built in excuse IF PJJ and Jones don't pan out(let's be honest, both will do great this year). But if he can turn a Grant Toutant and Avery Henry into All B1G OL, then we have another great position coach

Agree. I meant that it will really help recruiting the elite OL guys starting with the 2024 class if these guys go high in the draft. This would be the least potential drop off in OL play. I’d just love to see the quickest turn around from Stud as possible.

*side note- ‘Stud’ has to be the most inaccurate nickname ever

@ShowMeBuck you’re right, Frye is walking into an OLine that will have all 5 starters drafted. I’m not sure Paris leaves after this year but if he does, both Tackles should go in the first two rounds. I also believe Matt Jones is probably a round 4-5 guy. Next year will be Wypler and Donovan Jackson.

So early on, Frye is going to be able to point to getting players to the league. Even more early on than Hartline was able to. Now look what coaching 3 first round picks is doing for Hartline.
