Ohio State has added another top cornerback to its 2026 recruiting class.
Jay Timmons, a four-star prospect ranked as the
No. 17 cornerback and No. 136 overall prospect in the 2026 class, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Thursday.
The Timmons File
- Class: 2026
- Size: 5-11/185
- Pos: CB
- School: Pine-Richland (Gibsonia, Pennsylvania)
- Composite Rating: ★★★★
- Composite Rank: #136 (#17 CB)
Timmons, the son of former Florida State and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons, had been committed to FSU since June. Family ties weren’t enough for the struggling Seminoles to keep Timmons in their class, however, as he chose to play for Tim Walton and Ohio State’s secondary instead.
He becomes the second cornerback in Ohio State’s 2026 class, joining Jordan Thomas, the
No. 11 cornerback and No. 98 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the class.
A 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback from Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, Timmons initially committed to Indiana in April. He flipped to Florida State after receiving an offer from the Seminoles. Now, Timmons is set to play for the Buckeyes, filling the need for Ohio State to add a second cornerback in the class after Jakob Weatherspoon
flipped his commitment to North Carolina in July.
