Sorry to hijack the thread with the CSA talk.

Can one of the Open Discussion mods split off the CSA stuff into a separate thread? Thanks!

Have you checked into buying some from a local farm (or through a CSA)?

Raw Milk - LocalHarvest

There is a farm service that delivers food and dairy to Boston, and my boss ordered raw milk from them a few times.

We've been getting raw milk for the past few months from Windsor Dairy, which I believe is the largest raw milk dairy in CO. They are a member of the Organic Valley dairy co-op, but two days a week, they supply local raw milk 'members'. In CO, you need to own a share of a cow to be able to buy raw milk.

It's delicious, BTW. I skim the cream off the top for my coffee too.

We were a member of a CSA a few years ago, but found that about every time we got our veggies, it was the same thing that we were getting out of our garden. I told my wife we needed to support our more local farmers - us!

Hows everyone doing with the P90X?

Week 6 for me, so about halfway. Still enjoying it, kicking my butt on a regular basis and seeing results. Down about 17 pounds in the six weeks, which I'm thrilled with.

Pull up bar broke, piece of shit from amazon anyway. So I've had to use the bands the last few times, which I struggle with. Just doesn't seem hard enough, I'll be hanging a real bar soon.

What's the cheapest way to get the series?

ThePirateBay dot org.

Yep. And the cheapest legit way is to buy it off Ebay or something. Sometimes they put it up on their site for $150, you can always check that.

But, the best bet is to borrow them or get them used somewhere. Thankfully enough people burn out after buying them that there are usually good amounts of used copies available.

So what have you guys thought of the Yoga X portion? Its so long, although I will admit it's a nice change of pace from the other workouts.

Just starting week 3. Hardest part is the time element.

As far as difficulty of the exercises goes....

I would rate the workouts from toughest to easiest (and that is a relative thing) as:

Plyometrics (but I have bad knees, so this is especially hard for me)
YogaX
Arms/Chest
Shoulders/Back
Legs
KenpoX

Note that I have a good deal of Martial Arts experience. As such, here are a couple of plyo MA exercises that really work the upper legs.

1. Do Front Kick (he calls it a ball kick) then lunge forward and roll your hips so your weight is over your kicking foot with your other foot balanced on your heel. Then move your weight to your other foot with your kicking foot balanced on your heel. Then kick with other foot. We do these in sets of 10.

2. Pop up kicks. Squat, touch ground, jump up with front kick (he calls it ball kick) in air. Switch sides with each kick.

My brother lost 22 pounds in a month on this. I am afraid to try it because I have a bulging disc in my back. I have been just watching what I eat and doing my back physical therapy on an excersize ball as well as 30 minutes every other day on an eliptical maching. I have lost about 11 pounds in the same time frame. My bro and I are similiar builds and had about the same weight loss goals. If you can keep up with it.... it works.
