Oversigning (capacity 25, everyone welcome! maybe)

I like the part where he was the 7th kid to commit and Saban tells him he is the 26th commit.

What Saban really meant was, you were going to be in this class, until you screwed up your knee and we flipped Yeldon to take your spot. Sorry bro.

I hope the bama version of bobby d doesn't overpay him at his new "job".

Ord, the SEC rule allows back counting, which is where LSU f-ed up. It is a soft cap, as opposed to the B1G hard cap, meaning you have a rule based on the 85, the SEC rule is based upon a cap per class year.

They now review red shirts (the Saban rule), but need to get tougher on grey shirting, as that fluid situation is what leads to the current problem.

So it is similar to the Ped State situation.

To everyone who is posting self-righteous comments about oversigning -- careful. Buckeyes are likely to face some hard questions in this area soon enough.

I love Urban and his scorched earth recruiting approach, but people who get all ethics-focused about things are going to be either upset or memory-challenged. We don't really have many spots left, and I expect some actions that will remind us of common SEC practice.

I tell you what: When Urban Meyers calls a longtime commitment and asks him to either pay his own way or to sign the next year, I'll get off my high horse and criticize him for doing the same thing.

Since I don't see that happening anytime soon, I think I'll call Saban and Miles what I like, thank you very much.

Urban Meyer could have walked onto Ohio State's campus, looked at the list of current verbal committments we have and reevaluated them all to determine whether to keep their offers on the table. He would have had a stronger moral ground to do that (since he never personally offered the schollies in the first place) than what Saban and Miles have done.

But Meyer didn't do that. He has honored each and every offer to those verbal committments. So please spare me MaxBuck your predictions for Ohio State's future on immoral acts related to what he will or won't do to student-athletes.

And if you're referring in any way to Gambrell or Clarke, I suggest you take a look at what happened there before you start accusing the program of roster shaving.

EDIT: I'm all for the scorched earth policy when it comes to poaching the recruits from other programs. Most of them deserve it for how they've recruited against Ohio State this past year. But I think most fans wouldn't support doing what goes on down in the SEC West.

I haven't accused Ohio State of roster shaving.

Yet.

All this self-righteous posturing bemuses me. Lots of other programs call us "O$U." Not appropriate, I agree. But we're not choirboys, either. (And yes, I know, choirboys go to Penn State instead. )

You can say this shit when and if Meyer ever oversigns. Until then we'll be as self-righteous as we fucking please.

Go back & look at the numbers Florida signed under Urban.

Taken from Scout, number of recruits who signed LOIs with their class:

2011: 17 (signed after Meyer permanently left UF, but mostly recruited by him)
2010: 27
2009: 16
2008: 22
2007: 27
2006: 26
2005: 18 (may have signed before Meyer took over, if so then essentially not his class)
