That's probably just selective hearing on their/your part. Announcers and the media used to talk about SEC speed every once in a while. I heard it a few times before the national championship game last year. However, since then I've only heard announcers call it bunk. In fact, they did so on multiple occasions in this game. However, I believe there is credence in the arguement on specific occasions. Other times, there is no difference in speed (or at least not enough to warrant discussion).

We have been hearing about speed since 2002. It started with the speed of Miami and now is all about SEC speed. I agree some will own up and admit it is not that big of a deal there are plenty out there that still point to it and say how much faster the SEC is than the Big Ten.

I've been in the heart of the SEC/ACC for almost 10 years and I can tell you the speed argument is the first thing thrown my way any time we discuss college football...

Hell, I hear about it out here in the Pacific NW...

Yeah, from "the vicinity of Myrtle Beach to Salem, OR and everywhere in between, including here in Tallahassee. BTW, if Myrtle Beach is the heart of SEC/ACC country; what body part am I living in? Wait... don't answer that.

2002 my ugly, slow, Big Ten ass. The first time I had to deal with someone using the term "SEC speed" as a substitute for a rational argument I got so fed up with him I grabbed the wine-cooler out of his hand and poured it out on his Members Only jacket...
