I think the best two OTs play with the roster we have honestly regardless of fit. If Simmons is one of those two, then roll with him and Fryar (I think Fryar is a lock for one spot). If Zen, Tegra or Fitz breaks through to win the job, then great. Hell, Montgomery could break through, though it is tough for a frosh OL to lock down a spot really.Wondering who ends up backing up Josh Fryar at LT. Is it Simmons? Does Zen move back to LT?
osu won a title because they had easily the least popular recruit in osu history (since 02) in Baldwin ( EVERYONE was wrong about him), anchoring the line. Jacoby would have joined him if not for his last name.
they couldn't repeat with a juggernaut because they couldn't replace Baldwin.
stars aren't very useful at this spot. they help but not nearly the same way
Seems solid in pass protection and less solid in run blocking. That seems fairly natural for a tall frame like his in only his second year out of HS. Hopefully the Ohio State S&C and coaching will help with that.
Birm also mentioned Simmons as a player that is doing so well that it might encourage Ohio State to be more aggressive in the transfer portal in the future.
Overall, I’m cautiously optimistic about his ability to help solidify the OL this season.

You can also throw in another unheralded OL(who was recruited on the DL), Chase Farris.osu won a title because they had easily the least popular recruit in osu history (since 02) in Baldwin ( EVERYONE was wrong about him), anchoring the line. Jacoby would have joined him if not for his last name.
