OT Isaiah Prince (All B1G, Tennessee Titans)

From what I've read he tried to commit after his official and was told by Bama they weren't ready to accept his verbal. Then they told him last week they were ready but he needed to decide immediately and not take any other visits. Isaiah initially agreed but then after talking things over with his family decided he owed it to himself to still visit OSU and possibly Maryland. So the visit to OSU was done on the hush so it didn't get back to the Bama staff, which it obviously eventually did, as was inevitable.

Let me say this...at least Torrance Gibson has been upfront about taking other visits. And I'm willing to bet the OSU staff knew that Carlton Davis was visiting Auburn before he stepped foot on their campus. If the shoe were on the other foot, some OSU fans would be screaming for the staff to revoke Prince's offer...believe that.

Maybe but this part is scummy as hell and I could see why a kid would commit to a school that he might want to go to but be told if doesn't commit right now they won't have room. Then quietly check out the other schools to see if he made the right choice.

We have people who were calling for Urban to be fired after VT, and people who have already given up on Braxton, JT, and Cardale in favor of one of the other ones. I'm not concerned about what some OSU fans would do when it comes to crying about recruiting.

Yea that part reminds me of looking around at used cars. Very predatory and cynical.
I'd personally lose a bit of trust with that kind of pressuring, but it is what it is... not surprised somebody played the game right back "OK, sure" [does his due diligence anyway]

Big College Football recruiting is somewhat predatory everywhere, including Ohio State. Don't kid yourself in believing otherwise. Things were probably a bit kinder and gentler under Tressel than they are under Meyer, but even then ...

When millions of dollars are at stake and scholarships are limited, kids don't have the same kind of leverage they once did. It's something that elite HS players need to understand, wherever they are looking.

So is buying a car, a house, enrolling in University, door-to-door salesmen, LDS, telemarketers, etc. -- actually I see Tressel following this kind of method more than Urban (commit now, don't ever look at another school). I'm sure Urban is cut-throat in his own ways.
This is the one part of the process where players do have leverage. Once that LOI is signed, the schools have all the leverage.

I don't have any illusions about how the world works... this is no Grand Experiment. I just don't have a problem with a kid playing the system. Whether it's Prince looking at Ohio State and Maryland, or Gibson checking out Auburn and Miami.

I don't blame Prince at all. Recruiting is a tough business, just ask a few kids that have had their offers yanked after they committed. The player has one obligation, look out for yourself, period. No one else is no matter what they tell you. I have been there and done that. It is just an ugly process on both sides and the only way to go about it is to make protect yourself and your interests at all times no matter what because at the end of the day, any school including the one I love is going to do the same.
