If there was ever a kid I was certain would redshirt it was Dewand. That he might not in a season where he is clearly not needed speaks volumes.

DAWAND JONES NOT EXPECTED TO REDSHIRT DUE TO UNEXPECTED RISE AS OHIO STATE FRESHMAN OFFENSIVE TACKLE
The first time Dawand Jones stepped onto the field as a Buckeye, special teams coach Matt Barnes had no care in the world about his future as an offensive lineman. All Barnes wanted from the 6-foot-8, 360-pound first-year offensive tackle was to help Ohio State block a field goal.
It happened against Cincinnati in the second week of the season, though Jones wasn’t the one to get his hand on the football. Chase Young blocked a kick for the first time in his career. Yet that was almost less interesting than the mere presence of Jones.
A similar situation played out on Friday, when Master Teague scampered for a career-long 73-yard touchdown that got overshadowed by Jones, who made a key block by using all of his weight to move a Northwestern defensive lineman and open up a running lane.

Ditto, this is pretty remarkable. I think the coaches might throw him in as a 6th OL or in situations where we need brut force to move someone on the DL. If he gets engaged, it's over for whoever he gets ahold of. Stories Luke Dawand are why I love college football. 3 star that was viewed as a huge reach and project, to first OL in his class top not redshirt and plays immediately.

I'm all in on Dawand as well. But I think this decision, in large part (no pun intended), is based upon Munford and Alabi's health status. They need to develop Jones right away to provide depth in case of injury. Plus, next year we will not have nearly the depth at OT as we do right now.

Hopefully he can get down to about 335-340 lbs next year. May very well be competing for a starting position with Paris Johnson.

I agree. NPF and DJ is my guess. PJ to get some time to get acclimated and come along is a fine place to be.

Dawand looked great again on Saturday. Dawand just moves the entire side of his line, its amazing to watch. If he keeps developing, Dawand is going to have a great career here. Keep it up Mount Jones.
