If we can get some stellar DT play I think that'll boost our chances for another NC run dramatically. Otherwise, look for teams to run down our gut once again.
I am pretty sure our DT's will be fine. Abdallah,Denlinger, Larimore all got very big experience boosters playing in the title game. I feel they will do a great job of stuffing the middle enough to allow JL his freedom that he has been waiting for. Good Grief!!! I can't believe how freaking deep this team is. USCum better duct tape those jocks on cause I think they are gonna get 'blowed' up next year. Man if you have time just peek thru the roster:

I'm smelling 13-0 with a big win over Chokelahoma.

I want to believe.
But I can't help feeling we lose at USC and not get to the Championship game a third time. And you just know that the recent history will effect media judgement and ratings. :(
I think we go to the Rose Bowl this time around and win.
12-1

Agreed. Lose to USC and run the table in the big 10. I just don't see the Bucks rebounding in the rankings after an early loss to USC unless it goes down to the wire and they outplay and outstat them at their place. Even if they get by USC and stumble somewhere else along the way, in the media's eyes, they don't want to see it again. If there are 2 undefeated teams, one of them being OSU, if a good 1 loss SEC or Pac 10 team is right behind the Bucks, we may still get left out next year. Their national rep along with the Big 10's is that bad right now.

USC losing a lot of talent.

I expect that the third time will be charm, and that OSU will take the national title. USC is losing three starting offensive linemen, an All American TE, their starting QB, and most of their top defenders.

We are getting almost our entire team back. Barton is a significant loss, but Gholston, as good as he was, is backed up nicely by Wilson and Heyward.

This could be one of the best Buckeye teams to ever put on cleats!

I am SHOCKED at the number of people ready to get on their knees and lick Trojan ball.

You guys, we will beat the Trojans.

Our defense is way too good for these kids. What are we to be afraid of?

Sanchez? Never played a snap.
Ausberry, Hazelton, Turner? Do any of them say 'Dwayne Jarrett' to you? Not even close.
McKnight? Yeah, okay... Reggie Jr. my ass. mediocre vision, little tackle breaking, excellent speed. Not afraid.
O-line? USC's O-line has been disgusting for the past few years, and I know Pete knows how to coach up an O-line. But 4 of these cats are new.

USC's defense can run with anyone; this I won't debate. But our offense is going to be too good and too multi-dimensional. We RETURN 4 outstanding linemen, we have two future first rounders at wide receiever, and, oh yeah, some gorilla with wheels named BEANIE WELLS.

USC is beatable. They always have been. Next year we will show USC why the Buckeyes are indomitable.

EDIT: Oh yeah, 13-0. Championship. Over Oklahoma.

There is only one answer to the question ...OSU's Record 2008?

13-0 National Champions.

Basically same team as last year which should have been 12-1 (loss to Illinois was due to a blown call...My opinion and we just gave up in the 4th quarter) not to mention a few playmakers and impact players from the upcoming freshman.

I really was not too impressed with USC's overall performance last year and really think that this OSU Team will be ready and win that game. And Wisconsin, well they are good but not good enough. The rest are tough games but noone will be able to match our talent. The only way we lose is if we beat ourselves with penalties and mistakes.

Go Bucks!

I'd prefer him to be like RB. I always thought he was overrated and got all his yards based off of shoulder tackles. The NFL for the most part has proved it showing he was just a mediocre RB and not the stellar one everyone made him out to be.

what he said... One of USC's Jr. Guards (the one NOT named Jeff Byers) is going pro.

Considering how these guys played when the team was banged up this year, I don't really fear their ability to gel after 1 game next year. Yes, they do have a spring and fall camp to work together, but four new guys is brutal. They aren't likely to gel until mid-season.

I like our chances to beat USC.

As for the Big 10:
The best receivers in the conference not working out in the WHAC are now working out at pro combines. The best CB in the conference not wearing S&G is leaving for the NFL a year early. The best RBs in the NFL not named Beanie were seniors or are turning pro a year early. The best LBs in the conference that are not from the REAL Linebacker U were seniors.

Our receivers are coming back, and they are both as good as anyone left in the conference. Our CBs are back; and at least 3 of them would be the 'shut-down' corner for any other team in the Big 10. Our RB, who by the way IS named Beanie, is back and will win the Heisman. Our Linebackers are back and may be among the best LB units we've ever had; and that is a mind-boggling statement.
To say that I like our chances in-conference in 2008 would be a gigantic understatement. No one is in our class. Illinois may be the best of the rest, but OSU has been awfully good in revenge games over the past few years; nevermind the fact that they lose Mendenhall and Leman and are simply not as good as the Buckeyes.

13-0

I prefer them not to be and I agree with this statement but when did that type of crap start happening.

That is an interesting question.

If I were to hazard a guess I would go with the increased sensationalism driven media coverage that has continued to spiral out of control (and not just in college football) over the past decade.

12 -1 or 13 - 0 is very obtainable. I don't relish the idea of playing USC TWICE... in the Rose Bowl... in one season and Wisconsin on the road will be tough, but this team is once more loaded on both sides of the ball and if Saine continues to develope as a receiver we will have our "can take it to the house form any spot on the field" player.

What might come into play would be in Pryor decides to be a Buckeye. Hard to coach a team to two QB styles, but an option QB was JT's preferred way to travel at YSU and with Troy... speaking of which... what the hell are we doing playing YSU and Troy? There have to be better programs that want a shot at Ohio Stadium and the Buckeyes.

Why would they play USC twice in the Rose Bowl if they go 13-0? If they do that they'll be in Miami in the MNC game.....

Here we go again, I agree with you on the YSU thing, but Troy is actually a decent mid-major program.

You need games (usually no more than one or two) to get everyone moving and to get the younger players some time in the games. Otherwise you end up like Ohio State did in 1999 or 2004 when they had to play people who hadn't gotten into many games.

The same defense--minus arguably the best DE in the country--that gave up fucking 38 points in the national title game? Maybe it's the desert air here (still in Mesa, AZ as I type this post) but my outlook isn't quite a rosey as many. Now, I'm not predicting doom and gloom, and I see no real reason for us to seriously be in the national title hunt, but after seeing our defense get flat out owned by SEC teams in two straight title games, I'm not ready to proclaim them as world-beaters.

What I saw was a defense that had to adjust to a higher level of competition than they'd seen all year. It took them a while to adjust, but once they did they were OK. Unfortunately, by that point it was too late.
