OSU's huge recruiting weekend

Hey BFS, you got the 07 guys in there! :wink2:

This is incredible. I was talking about b-ball recruiting at work today, and someone brought up the buzz with OSU recruiting when Williams was here. Did anyone here follow recruiting back then, and if so, how does this recent excitement compare to the late 80s?

Im not an imposter, lol, and I didnt "steal" ur name. BuckeyePride85 has been my screenname on aol since I enrolled at OSU a few years ago. I had been on the ESPN boards since the start of last season football, untill I came in contact with BuckeyeFromScUM on ESPN. Thats when I registered here using my "BuickeyePride85" screenname (so I wouldnt forget what it is). I didnt even know there is anotherone on here with "BuckeyePride" in their name. But its good to know that Pride is a word commonly associated with Buckeye.

What are the odds the age limit will be set? It's sounding better and better. Mayo and Oden would have to go to school for at least a year, and both have openly admitted they are against the age limit....so.....

With the NBA's collective bargaining agreement expiring June 30 -- two days after the draft, commissioner David Stern is pushing hard in labor talks for having the age limit raised to 20. Union director Billy Hunter has said publicly that the issue is negotiable, leading many to assume a change is likely.

David Stern's job is to do what's good for the league. He can't react when the league bottoms out. He'd lose his job. Stern must improve the NBA now and get on top of any image problems that might damage the future financial health of the league.

Not only are players more fundamentally sound after spending a few years in college, they are far more marketable after going through the NCAA hype machine.

Gary Williams was doing a great job before he left for Maryland. The top-seeded teams of 91 and 92 were recruited by Gary Williams, with Randy Ayers as one of his top assistants. Top 50 guys that he landed were Treg Lee, Perry Carter, Mark Baker, and, of course, Jimmy Jackson. Chris Jent was a top-100 guy, also. They were a nice group, but other than JJ and maybe Mark Baker, you couldn't compare those recruits to the types of guys we are talking about right now. To land Lighty and Cook would be the best combo we've seen in recruiting terms since the early 60's. Oden, Conley, Thaddeus Young, Chichester, Dews, Mayo, Walker, Lauderdale, Diebler, etc....there is just too much talent around Ohio and involved with this program for us to be anything less than studly in the near future. With Matta at the helm and the recruiting riches that are interested, we're talking top 10 rankings for many years in a row!

if its possible to be worse, they are in the running. hell, even the board moderator was accusing osu of recruiting violations, which is absolutely hilarious.
quite the tempremental bunch, but when your 3rd fiddle in your home state in the only sport you are competitive in, i guess that can happen.

It has to be true!!! Would anyone who has an avatar of the "Great Cornholio" (aka Beavis) print anything that isn't 100% factual?

Also, the "hot girls" thread is something that this board could use.

If Conley was recruiting heavily in the favor of the Bucks this past weekend, I consider this deal as good as done. I know a lot of people worry until signing day, but there's no way Thad let's this kid slip through his fingers. Mom's involvement to boot...I have zero worries. I am PUMPED. Bring on ODEN, bring on Lighty...anyone else on top of that is just bonus.

Are you guys ready for the first OSU #1 rated b-ball recruiting class ever perhaps?

If our bball program could learn to top 10 finish like our football team and if those two combined could win a couple of NC's over the next decade, OSU athletics could peak. I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but JT & TM are taking these programs in VERY positive directions. The sky is the limit for both.
