OSU's huge recruiting weekend

Just when I thought OSU couldn't be any dumber.....

they do something like hire Thad Matta and Totally redeem themselves.

Seriously, tOSU just seems to be a Phoenix......rising up out of the ashes of basketball and football problems, to be even stronger than they were before!!!

If I recall correctly, we did have one very exciting recruiting year under Ayers in the 90's, also. I'm not sure which year it was, but I think I remember that we got Mr. Ohio basketball (Greg Simpson), Mr. Kentucky b-ball (Derek Anderson), and Mr. Indiana (I think it was Killer Macon or Gerald Eakers) all in the same year. Of course, Anderson transferred to UK and the rest ended up off of the team for various legel issues (like shooting out a teammate's tires).

I remember that it was an exciting recruiting class at the time, but I can't imagine it was anymore exciting than these upcoming classes are going to be.

This is some exciting stuff!!!! We love Matta!!!!
Close. Simpson was back to back Mr Basketball in Ohio. Anderson was runner-up in Kentucky. Macon was Mr. Basketball in Indian, and Nate Wilbourne was Mr. Basketball in South Carolina. Anderson and Wilbourne transferred out, and Macon and Simpson were kicked off the team. Simpson ended up at WVU.

As I recall, Simpson left WVU after his junior season to declare for the NBA. Whoever told him that was a good idea should have been shot. (or at least had their tires shot out)

He went undrafted in the 1996 NBA Draft. (didn't see that one coming, eh?)

Nate Wilbourne went to Upper Arlington, a suburb of Columbus. He transferred to South Carolina.

Wilbourne left because he didn't like what was going on with the team. All the off-court problems by other players on the team caused him to realize that tOSU wasn't really a team and so he decided to transfer.
