OSU Women's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Despite missing out on two nationaly ranked top 10 players from Ohio, McGuff still ended up with the #4 recruiting class in the country. Hopefully, he will be able to do something with these recruits.

Here comes a ringing endorsement for coach Kevin McGuff's class.

Starting with Kierstan Bell, the reigning Gatorade player of the year in Ohio who averaged 33.4 points, 10 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 5.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game last season as a junior at McKinley (Canton). The Buckeye-to-be and No. 6 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 has already been dubbed She-Bron by some basketball fans in Ohio.

Point guard Rikki Harris, the No. 24 prospect, will cross the state line from Indiana to join McGuff's class. Kaelynn Satterfield, a wing ranked 39th, brings star power from New York's Christ the King. Guard Jacy Sheldon, the No. 41 prospect, has already set the school records at Dublin Coffman (Dublin, Ohio) for points, steals and field goals.

Rounding out the class is forward Aixa Wone from Spain.

From what I've seen so far this year, the women's BBall team needs some O, big time. Kelsey spoiled us, and here supporting cast was able to pick up the slack when she was 'off' or double/triple teamed. This year's team has some good players, but nobody that can score, much less be electric. Dorkus (sp?) is certainly a force, but there's no length around her. Waterman does a lot with her talent level, she's got a good BBall IQ. From what I've seen of the other freshmen, they are talented, but plenty raw. Hopefully they gel before the end of the year, but then six of them are gone. Hopefully tOSU will get another F/C to take some pressure off. Go Bucks!

Ran across an old link to Women's recruiting rankings and clicked to check out the lady Buckeyes. South Carolina caught my eye - just a bit.

They have 4 - as in FOUR - of the top 11 rated recruits for 2019.

Ouch.

Wait, so there were 2 players in Ohio higher ranked than the 5-star, 2-time Ms Basketball in the State of Ohio?

I was just asking a question. I'm not questioning anything you said.
So, 3 of the top 10 players nationally are from Ohio? Damn, sorry OSU only got 1 of the 3.

And 2020's 2 highest rated recruits are going out of state too. #23 Madeline Westbeld is going to Notre Dame from Fairmont HS and #46 Alexia Smith again from Africentric right here in Cbus is going to Minnesota of all places.

What the hell is the problem with OSU and Africentric? Do they have a poor relationship?

And #65 Sakima Walker also from Africentric is going to Rutgers! JFC

So, to recap for those playing at home: 3 Top 100 recruits from Ohio, 2 of whom are from Columbus and McGruff gets a whopping 0 of them. Not good.
