OSU vs USC pre-game hang out/tailgating?

How bout you bring a table, my friends and I bring the keg, then we can play drinking games until it is tapped.

Would your douchebag Raider fan friend, or any other douche in general, have any more tickets we still have four looking.

That Raider friend is buying our extra pair of tickets. We got lucky and managed to get em from the USC ticket site on the one day they had em on sale.

I will see what kind of flat surface I can bring along. I hope I'm not making an effort for Bud. :wink2:

Update email received from Trojan Victory Mail subscription (required to subscribe to for the ability to buy tickets from the USC site, bogus)

No. 1 USC Football Hosts No. 5 Ohio State! Gates open at 3pm.
Arrive early so you won?t miss a minute of the action!
USC Trojan Athletics recommends getting to the gates early, especially for the USC vs. Ohio State game, as this will be a highly-anticipated game featuring two gridiron powers.

Ok, I have a flight and I am going, but I'm coming alone. I'm looking for a ticket and a hotel room.....I'm game for meeting up and all of the events. So, if anyone has extra and looking to make a lil cheese....let me know ASAP! I'm searching for tix and hotel as we speak!

I'm going, but I'll be there with two USC fans. One of them is a student and has to wait in line all day Saturday because USC student seats are first-come, first-serve so I might want to wander around instead of staying in primarily USC territory.

I'm headed out w/ my husband and a very good friend who got us our tickets :). We've got passes to the Buckeye Bash (official OSU event), but my friend is very interested in watching the ND v. UM game, which kicks off at 12:30, I think. So we need a place to tailgate/have lunch that will have that game tuned in. Any ideas? Thanks!

:oh::io:

Wait a minute. You need passes to get into the Buckeye Bash? I'm headed out there tomorrow night. No game tix yet; hoping to get lucky on gameday at a reasonable price. But I'll be looking to party it up with fellow Ohioans all day Saturday...

EDIT: **Online registration for the Buckeye Bash @ USC is closed. You can still gain entrance to the Bash by paying at the door. The cost is $10.**

I'll be there with MondayAMGenius. I'm hosting some buddies as well and we're all taking a bus with a bunch of buckeyes from Hermosa to a Buckeye tailgate at one of the frat houses (Sigma Chi?)... we will also be floating around because I have buddies that are flying in from NYC and Dublin and doing their own tailgate...

Ok, here is OCBF and I's general outline for the day. We are headed up north from Orange County about 8 AM. Our first stop will be the Sports Arena to get a lay of the land, the gates, any unexpected pricing me might need more cash on hand for, etc. We are then planning on parking relatively close if we can, and attending the Buckeye Bash (if we can get in) until the arena lot opens at 3. (Well, OCBF may try to hang out and get Archie Griffin's autograph but I will probably set up the tailgate if he waits for that) We will then be tailgating somewhere there until game time. We have a folding table, chairs, portable grill, all the necessary components to a nice stable location for folks to find us drinking and eating at.

At any time during this process we are looking to meet up with fellow BPrs. I have exchanged cell numbers with quite a few of you already so this part should be fun and probably an all day process.

Since we will (of course) be rocking some form of the scarlet and gray, what we look like won't help locate us. We drive a plain black PT Cruiser Turbo with a white block O on the back which also won't help locate us. If you wish to meet up, have a beer, let our chickens steal yours, or just goggle at the wonder that is us, pm me for contact info.

You lucky SOB. Being stationed here in Tucson, I was planning on taking the wife to LA and maybe doing some tailgating and watching at the bar, but I found out I will be headed to Balad, Iraq on Sep 17th for 6months.

God, I can't wait till next season, Im flying home to Columbus no question about it!

Have fun guys, I expected some great stories posted here when I get back!

:oh:

Be safe, and thank you for your service.

I made some changes to our projected plans. Not major changes, just more time near the arena than originally planned. More time to meet people! I think OCBF might have a heart attack if he actually meets Archie.

tailgating hints and tips found randomly on the web

09/02/2008 Though dealing with the 90,000 fans who fit in the Coliseum can be trying, you will get your own seat (unlike the Rose Bowl where I've always been stuck on benches), and no matter how high up you have to climb, you should have a decent view of the field and the jumbotron, so you shouldn't miss anything.

The people watching is pretty fantastic, with painted frat boys, sorority girls in t-shirts turned to dresses and adorable little kids dressed up in jerseys and cheerleading uniforms.

The food may not be great and the service is particularly slow and terrible when trying to order any sort of refreshment, but you can bring snacks -- just don't bring a backpack because you'll be turned away at the gate. And even though they don't sell beer anymore, you shouldn't have trouble sneaking in a little something to spice up your soda. Even if you don't bring something along, chances are someone near you did -- and the friendly fans are usually willing to share (I've been offered everything from vodka and rum to kettle corn and cotton candy from complete strangers).

The sheer energy of the place, the people and the team and its ideal location next to SC (perfect for tailgating on campus, where you can use the building bathrooms) are certainly enough to keep me coming back year after year.
Some helpful tips:

1. Don't bother with the paid parking lots. You could easily spend $25 or more and get stuck in the structure for at least an hour after you planned your exit. You can reliably find free street parking in the residential neighborhood west of SC, which is only a 5-15 minute walk from the stadium.

2. Go to the bathrooms on the upper level, inside the Coliseum. They're less crowded than the ones down on ground level and rarely have a wait.

3. Bring warm clothes -- it gets cold and windy when the sun goes down.

4. When the game is over, climb down over the seats instead of dealing with the masses on the steep stairs. You'll get out faster.

5. Consider planning for a post-game tailgate -- it can be a nightmare getting out of the area right after the game. Also take note that if you think you can just go south down Figueroa to get to the 10, they usually block off the left turns to the entrances for quite a few miles. You'd have better luck going south on Vermont.

Some decent tips in this thread

Parking looks to be about $25, as I suspected.

I can't seem to find info about specific lots for tailgating. Most of what I can find tends toward saying tailgating is accepted anywhere really. Alcohol would be the deciding factor obviously.
It sounds more like an NFL game than a college game(you just park and tailgate where you are), which could be because the arena is not JUST for USC like the Shoe is JUST for tOSU.

Any USC fans reading this thread with any more specific information would be really appreciated.
