JT's performance as a coach the last 2 years is as bad as Cooper's final years. Frankly, I'd be surprised if he's still wearing the headset in 5 years.

That NC buys a whole lotta rope but I don't entirely disagree.

Someone else brought up a good point on this earlier...if JT continues to appear stubborn and keep his offensive coaching staff in place while we continue to struggle so mightily on offense the grumbling will get louder and louder.

I hope for the sake of our program JT just wakes up and decides its time for a real Offensive staff. We need his leadership, the teams attitude is a reflection of him and 2/3 of this team year in and year out are among the very best in CFB, National Championship caliber even.

That remaining 1/3 however is such a black hole it nearly negates what the 2/3 is able to do.

Wow, thats a Llloyd like stat right there. You know what really scares me? The unmotivated lackadaisical team I saw playing last night reminded me of a Llloyd Car coached team.

Someone disagreed with my analysis of the team being unmotivated, I would like to know why you thought they WERE motivated. Most of the time when you have the same or better athletes as another team, but you get blow off of both sides of the ball you are not motivated. When your defense misses tackles that they didn't miss all year long that usually means they were unmotivated. I didn't see a team that was exited about playing like I saw against Iowa. I saw a team that was going through the motions thinking that they would win just because they are Ohio State. I would really like to know, maybe I am missing something. However saying "Unmotivated my ass" doesn't really do much for discussion.

It wasn't me SD...but I did think the D was plenty motivated...they (Penn State) basically resorted to the prevent offense in the second half, because they were ahead, couldn't do anything, and didn't want to turn it over. I don't think the offense was unmotivated, though it is possible they underestimated their opponent a little. Still, it's not like they didn't try, they just didn't succeed, in my estimation.

Here's a stat some of you might like to show how effective our offense has been. Including 2002 and beyond we've played 26 Big 10 games...and scored 575 points (110 of those coming from Indiana mind you)...that's an average of 22 ppg. Every team in the Big 10 is averaging more than 22 a game this year except for Illinois (they are at 21). We wouldn't even crack the top 80 out of 119 D-1A schools with that scoring offense. And almost 1/5 of those points come from 3 games against Indiana!!!! I think maybe we need to find a way to score more points in the Big 10. They see us every year...maybe our offense is so obvious that the Big 10 knows exactly how to stop it. Just a thought.

I don't think that stat tells the entire story. If you have two teams with identical offenses but different defenses it seems logical that the team with the better D scores more. They have more turnovers, more TOP, better field position, etc. Given the dominant D's we have put on the field the past several years our O is even worse than these stats indicate.

At this point I would like to make one more contribution to the neverending attempt to define what 'Tressel-Ball' really means.

Tressel-Ball - an approach that features an Offense so inept that it can prevent the most exceptional Defense's from winning games.

As I have said earlier...both teams actually looked like they were playing the prevent offense in the second half...one team was ahead, one was behind, and that's how it stayed. Tresselball is fine when you're ahead by 10 in the 4th...not so good when behind by 7.

Unfortunately, in our 2 biggest games this year, it has completely negated what the other 2/3's was able to do

I agree, defense was more motivated than the offense, but I still just didn't seem to see that extra "umph" that the defense has had in the other games. As for the offense, I agree they underestimated their opponents, and that they did try to win, I am not saying they didn't, but they just didn't look like they were fired up. To me it looked like they were going though the motions. Maybe thats the attitude they get from JT. After the game, he wasn't pissed or anything, he just kinda had the whole "oh shucks" attitude about it. Maybe that helps the team in close games, although dare I say the team hasn't done well in close games since the talented players of the NC team left.
