I feel OSU should pursue having a dedicated basketball scouting position, specifically to identify strong prospects that have NBA and/or all-conference potential that aren't being recruited by the top programs in the country. I do not think the program invests in scouting in a meaningful way, and it is very shortsighted because you rarely (almost never) win battles with blue bloods for out of state recruits.

Aren’t those the guys the Feds just busted? Or are these the AAU handlers we’re talking about?

I feel OSU has to go in a different direction from Roderick for sure. OSU needs game changers who are scorers, not just guys who can take what the defense gives. A lot of defenses in the B1G don't give many openings, so you have to create your own chances. Gotta have guys who can score through contact and/or score over B1G level defenders. A huge problem with the team right now is most of the roster are guys who simply cannot score when facing solid defense, they mostly just can't figure out a way through or around the defender. I expect that the three recruits that are coming in are more of the type of talent that can score over and through opposing defenders, so maybe the problem will be solved to an extent by those guys, but I am not seeing anything in Roderick that improves on what they have right now in any way.

noticed a week ago that the staff has shown interest. his 7'9" wingspan is absurd.

another 2019 player that the staff is reaching out to is david skogman, a 6'10" pf/c out of wisconsin. despite 247 not even ranking him, he's blown up recently.

given the interest in diallo and skogman, i can't help but wonder about how optimistic the staff feels about loveday. though i can't say that i'm all that keen about getting a fourth for 2019, which would create some scholarship imbalance on an already deep roster, guys like diallo and skogman can be worked in a little more slowly and perhaps even redshirted.

I know they lost Potter, but I thought they were going to be OK with a rotation of Kaleb, Kyle and Andre and Alonzo in the frontcourt. I can see the benefit of having an agile shot shotblocking post on the team, though.

I don't begrudge them for using open scholarships instead of saving them for class balance, though, because transfers and other "unexpected" departures are so common nowadays that you almost always have 1-2 extra spots a year open up that you can fill.

just my opinion

if they could combine Diallo's length/athleticism with Skogman's shooting/BB IQ, sure. but then you'd also be talking about a T10 recruit who'd already be committed to UK by now or something. instead, Diallo is a project and Skogman is Micah Potter redux.

I don't care if they aren't true centers, Liddell and Gaffney are both far more ready to help our frontcourt and our team overall than either of these dudes.

either add a prolific scorer or save the scholarship.
