5-Star Power Forward Caleb Wilson Keeps Ohio State In His List Of 12 Schools

The star 2025 prospect is now down to 12 schools. The Ohio State Buckeyes are in contention for the 6'9" forward.

According to On3's recruiting prediction machine, the Auburn Tigers are the current favorite to get a commitment from Wilson at a 24.1 percent chance. One thing is for sure, the Buckeyes find themselves up against a bunch of college basketball blue bloods in Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina in Wilson's top 12.

Jake Diebler and his staff have found some recent success through the transfer portal in shaping this coming season's team. They are also drawing lots of interest from prospects as well. A player like Wilson committing to the Buckeyes would be a huge achievement early on in Diebler's young head coaching career.

From Land-Grant Holy Land:

Football Saturdays aren’t only for hosting football recruits. Ohio State basketball also used the home game to its advantage, hosting a pair of talented 2025 prospects in Niko Bundalo and Davion Hannah. Bundalo, a 6-foot-10 power forward, is the No. 7 PF and No. 26 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite, making the trek all the way from California. Hannah, a 6-foot-5 guard, is the No. 7 SG and No. 31 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite, hailing out of Missouri.

Jake Diebler, Ohio State building momentum in recruitment of Darryn Peterson, Niko Bundalo

Could Ohio State pull off a massive 1-2 combo of commitments before the November signing period?

Could Ohio State and new head coach Jake Diebler send shockwaves across the country by landing two Ohio-born five-star recruits in Darryn Peterson and Niko Bundalo? We’ll know the answer to that question over the next five weeks or so, but right now the Buckeyes appear to be in a good spot with each of the five-star players in the 2025 class.

Not certain on the over/under on catching Darryn and Niko for the Buckeyes, but believe that Diebs has a punchers chance. Hopefully these 'blue-blood' teams can be overcome by our 'scarlet-blooded' team, and some of the NIL cash spills over to the basketball team. Certainly not an expert, and have no clue how the Buckeyes will perform this year, but hopefully, this team will be competitive, and show some rising stars to these two Ohio prospects. And certainly Dieb's youthful enthusiasm wins them over. Go Bucks!

Ohio State Makes the Top Six for 2025 Four-Star Guard Kiyan Anthony, Son of Carmelo Anthony

Just sayin':

1) OK, I googled this and have no idea how accurate it is.
What is the NIL budget for Syracuse basketball?
Syracuse, Belzer said, has about a $2 million NIL budget for men's basketball, a figure he said ranks in the middle of the ACC pack.

2) Even though the family is (probably....) very well off, I'll say the only chance any school other than Syracuse has is to offer significantly more NIL money than Syracuse offers and that may not even get him. It was reported that his father donated $3M to Syracuse basketball towards a new practice facility which is named after him.

Syracuse lands Kiyan Anthony, son of legend Carmelo Anthony

Kiyan Anthony, Carmelo Anthony's son and a top-40 recruit in the class of 2025, announced Friday that he is following in his father's footsteps and committing to Syracuse.

Anthony made the announcement on his father's "7PM in Brooklyn" show.

Just sayin': Anybody shocked at that commitment?

He led the Bulldogs (22-2) to a third straight Lake Erie League championship and top overall seed in the Northeast District tournaments for Division III. Garfield Heights defeated Parma Padua Franciscan 64-41 in a regional semifinal Tuesday. Johnson had 33 points in that win. They will face Akron Hoban (and top OSU football offensive line target Sam Greer) in a regional championship game Friday at 7 p.m. at Medina High School.

Basketball transfers: Which players have been linked with Ohio State in the 2025 offseason?

Nick Davidson, Nevada

According to a March 19 report from On3's Joe Tipton, Ohio State is one of a laundry list of schools to contact the 6-10, 238-pound center. Davidson has spent four years with the Wolf Pack including a redshirt year.

Davidson earned second-team all-conference honors last season, when he averaged 15.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. He shot 50 percent from the field and was 37.1% from 3-point range.

Colby Duggan, Campbell

According to multiple reports, Ohio State is one of five schools to have contacted Duggan early. A 6-7, 220-pound sophomore forward, Duggan started 22 of 32 games for the Fighting Camels and averaged 15.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 34.0% from 3-point range. He earned first-team all-Coastal Athletic Association honors.

Duggan played 15 minutes off the bench in Campbell's 104-60 loss at Value City Arena on Nov. 22, finishing with two points, two rebounds, a block, an assist, a turnover and three fouls.

Harun Zrno, freshman/Indiana

A 6-6, 205-pound shooting guard from Bosnia, Zrno committed to the Hoosiers but could potentially be back in play after the school parted ways with coach Mike Woodson. According to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland and Miami (Florida) have all reached out to Zrno as he waits to talk with new Indiana coach Darian DeVries.

Hopefully, tOSU's crystal ball is looking for an aircraft carrier for the middle. This year has shown that a power forward just doesn't cut it in the paint. Don't know much about the kid from Nevada, but maybe he's ready to get on the big stage. Do like the outside players the Buckeyes have, and hope that most (if not all) stay here, and Taisman comes back w/o losing a step. And Thornton as well. Wish could give Diebs the answer on how to control the second half swoons, as if we had 4-6 of those as Ws, then we'd be a Dancin'......Go Bucks!

Ohio State’s Devin Royal already has his eyes on a great addition for the Buckeyes if said player decides to enter the transfer portal

Ohio State is reportedly set to hit the transfer portal hard and they should. The Buckeyes have been connected to multiple players already, including Indiana G Gabe Cupps. However, things will pick up more this week as the portal is officially open as of today.

With Texas hiring Sean Miller away from Xavier, many eyes are on what happens with that roster in southern Ohio. Ohio State F Devin Royal has his eyes on one player and it makes a ton of sense if he decides to enter the portal.

Xavier’s Dailyn Swain would be a no-brainer for the Buckeyes if he enters the portal

Swain’s Instagram post from over the weekend was quickly filled with Xavier fans hoping he would stay and other fans hoping he would end up at the school they root for. Buckeye Nation quickly recognized that Royal commented on the picture and screenshots of it floated around X.

Ohio State offered Swain out of high school, where he was a four-star recruit. Swain ended up signing with Xavier and it was one that Ohio State should have never let get away. The 6-foot-8 small forward played in 29 games as a true freshman in 2023 where he averaged 4.3 points per game.

This past season is where Swain took his game to the next level. The talented sophomore averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 33 starts for Xavier. Swain scored 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting against Illinois in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
